Raavana attacks Vibheeshana and Lakshmana

Lakshmana got angry and released seven arrows which broke Raavanaas flag post.Raavanaas flag has the emblem of mans head.Lakshmana killed his charioteer with a single arrow.Releasing five arrows he broke Raavanaas bow.In the mean time,Vibheeshaa killed chariot horses with his mace. Raavana got very angry with his brother.He got down from the chariot and released powerful Sakthi towards Vibheeshana.Before it touched Vibheeshana,Lakshmana released three arrows and nullified the Sakthi.Seeing Sakthi crumbling into pieces,Raavana released Mahaasakthi to kill Vibheeshana.Seeing this,Lakshmana stood before Vibheeshana and rained arrows at Raavana.seeing Vibheeshana protected by Lakshmana,Raavana told Lakshmana.Lakshmana!you saved Vibheeshana from my Mahaasakthi.So,I would release this Mahaasakthi against you only.It will kill you definitely. Saying so,Raavana released Mahaasakthi,which was made by Mayuduusing all his magical powers,towards Lakshmana.After releasing Mahaasakthi he roared like a lion.Sree raama saw it and blessed Lakshmana that everything good would happen to his brother.He addressed the Mahaasakthi.Mahaasakthi!your attempt to kill my brother would be futile.You would fail in your mission.Mahaasakthi went through Lakshmanaas heart and he fell down.Sree Raama wept for his brother.But sensing that it was not the right time to lament or repent,he fought with Raavana,observing his brother all along.It was a severe fight.Lakshmanaas body was oozing blood.HE FELL LIKE A HUGE MOUNTAIN BOUND BY A SERPANT.vaanaraas tried to take away that Sakthi but it was impossible for them to accomplish.Sree Raama broke that Mahaasakthi into two pieces with his hands. While Raama was attending to his brother,Raavana released another set of arrows.Raama did not mind them,but hugged his brother.He told Sugreeva and Hanumantha.Be alert and protect Lakshmana all the time.Hey vaanara warriors!time has come for me to show my valour.I have been waiting for this moment since long time.I will kill this sinner and come.See!I am taking oath before you.Either me or Raavana would be on this earth.I will definitely kill Raavana.I have been sorrowful because of losing my kingdom,living in the forest like sage,roaming in Dandakaaranyam,my Seetha being touched by another male and interacting with demons.I will leave my entire sorrow and acquire anger and kill Raavana.Raavana is before my eyes and he can never escape from me.Be cool headed and see our fight.Now,deities and sages would see this war.People will talk about this war till eternity.Raama got so angry because he saw Lakshmana in pain and pathetic condition.Sying so,he started releasing arrows at Raavana.

Raama and Raavana fight

Raavana entered war field.He is addressing his charioteer.Our demons are all killed.I will kill Raama and Lakshmana and make them happy.I will destroy the tree named Raama,which has Sugreevudu,Jaambavanthudu,Kumududu,Naludu,Maindudu,Dvividudu,Angadudu,Gandhamaadanudu,Hanumanthudu,Sushenudu and others as branches and flower ,Seetha. Raavana released Thaamasaasthram,first.Vaanaraas got burnt and fell in heaps.Raama got ready to war and made sounds with the string of his bow.But Lakshmana was near by and he felt like fighting with Raavana.So,he released arrows on to Raavana.Raavana warded off all those arrows.Raavana crossed Lakshmana and went to Raama and released arrows on him.Raama also rained arrows on Raavana.So many arrows were released by both of them that sky looked as if it had been fixed by many windows.Darkness engulfed the area with the arrows released by Raavana.Both are great warriors.Raavana planted many arrows on Raamaas forehead.But Raama was not pained by them.He got angry and released Roudraasthram.It touched unbreakable armour of Raavana but did not harm him.Raavana released Asuraasthram.Due to its effect,many arrows with the faces of lions,tigers,five headed serpants and many wild animals came.Then Raama released Aagneyaasthram.From it,many arrows with the faces of fire,sun,moon,planets and stars came andthey appeared like lightning and nullified the arrows released by Asuraasthram.Raavana ,then,released Roudraasthram,which was given to him by Mayudu.Raama nullified its effect by Gaandharvaasthram.Raavana released Souraasthram.From it many magnificient wheels came.Raama released celestial arrows and cancelled them.Seeing that his powerful arrows had no effect on Raama,Raavana released ten arrows which pained Raama.But Raama did not deter and rained arrows on Raavana.

Mahodarudu and Mahaapaarsvudu killed

Raavana came out through northern entrance and entered battle field.His left eye trembled.His face necame pale.His voice was in low key.Raavana did not care for these bad omens but proceded.Vaanaraas were also ready to fight.Fierce fight ensued.Many vaanaraas died due to Raavanaas arrows.Sugreeva observed this and fought back.He killed many demons.Viroopaakshidu ataacked Sugreeva.They fought a firce duel.Viroopaaksha broke Sugreevaas armour.Sugreeva hit his chest with his flattened palm and blood oozed from all openings in his body,navarandhramulu.He died.Many warriors died on both the sides.Armies on both sides became weak.Raavana felt tension.He instigated Mahodarudu and Mahaapaarsvudu to fight on his behalf.He told them to fight to the best of their ability.They had benefitted from him in the past.Time has come for them to show their gratitude for his help. Mahodarudu killed many vaanaraas and showed his mettle.Sugreeva observed this and attacked him.Sugreeva took a spear and Mahodarudu took a mace and fought.Bothe the weapons broke.They took swords and fought.During that fight,Sugreeva beheaded Mahodarudu.Demons were afraid and ran away.Vaanaraas were happy and praised Sugreeva. Mahaapaarsvudu fought relentlessly and killed many vaanaraas.Angada could not withstand that onslaught and attacked him.Angada took a spear and threw it and it broke the bow of Mahaapaarsvudu.Angada hit his chest with his fist.With that,Mahaapaarsvudu died.

Demon women lament the loss of their kith and kin

Women in Lanka learnt about the death of their men in war in huge numbers.They realised that they lost their husbands,fathers,sons,brothers and relatives in this ghastly war.They lamented in groups consoling each other.They talked like this.Soorpanakha is ugly.But she lusted for Handsome Raama and brought this calamity on us.Because of Soorpanakha only,Raavana indulged in rivalry with Raama.In the end,Raavana failed to turn Seetha towards him.He failed miserably.He brought Seetha just for his death only.Will there be any such fool in this world who makes Raama his enemy?Does he not know The effect of Raama?Does he not know the plight of Viraadha,who kidnapped Seetha earlier? Raama killed fourteen thousand demons in Janasdhaanam,along with Kharudu,Dooshanudu and Thrisirudu.He killed Kabandhudu,who had huge shoulders.He killed a great warrior like Vaali and made Sugreeva the king of Kishkindha.Are all these not examples of his valour?Raavana is a great fool!Vibheeshana pleaded him many a time not to continue enmity with Raama.But he leant a deaf ear to Vibheeshanaas pleas.If he had taken good advice of righteousman,Vibheeshana,Lanka would not have become a burial ground now.Even when Kumbhakarna,Athikaayudu,Indrajith and many other warriors died,Raavana could not think properly.In Lanka ,in every house,you can hear wailings that their son has died,their father has died or their brother has died. Women continued weeping.All our men died in the war.We have no one to look up to.What is the use of our living when once we become destitutes?Raavana is brainless person.Even he too would die soon.He did not ask for a boon to protect him from death in the hands of man.To kill Raavana only,Deities might have sent Seetha to Lanka.Because of his wrong doings only,we are put to so much trouble today.Can any one the person whom Raama determines to kill?Vibheeshana went to Raama and saved his life. Lanka reverberated with these wailings.It could be heard even in the palace.Raavana felt very much.He became angry and grit his teeth again.He told the demons around him.Tell the armies that it is my order.Tell them to go to the warfield and fight.I would come and destroy Raama,Lakshmana and vaanara army.Get ready my chariot.Collect all the demons who are still alive to the army.Army was collected.Raavana aloghted his chariot and went to the warfield along with Mahaapaarsvudu,Mahodarudu and Viroopaakshudu.

Raavana sends his army to the war

Raavana sent his own army to the field.Great fight ensued between vaanaraas and demons.Demons killed vaanaraas in large numbers.Remaining vaanaraas ran to Raama for protection.Raavana took his bow and entered the war field.Demons started falling down in large numbers.Chariots were breaking down.Demons were afraid and running away.Sree Raama was not to be seen by any pf them.It was as if gusty winds were blowing through the forest and destroying all the trees.Raamaas acts were only seen but not his frame of body.Sree Raama released Gaandharvaasthram.All demons fell down due to its effect.Wherever they turned demons were seeing Raama and they were seeing thousands of Raama,but not actual person.Raama is turning his bow in circles and releasing arrows in all the directions.Demons were being hit by his arrows but they could not see him.Raama broke seven crores twenty nine chariots.He killed thirteen crores twelve lakhs and twenty thousand elephants,ten crores twenty lakhs sixty thousand horses with their masters,one hundred and forty five crores eighty lakhs cavalry.He completed all this devastation in just one and half an hour just with his arrows.Battlefield looked like the play ground of God Rudra.Raavanaas entire personal army vanquished.Deities and sages were very very happy.They praised Raama.Raama turned towards Sugreeva,Vibheeshana,Hanumantha and other vaanara warriors and told them that this celestial weaponry is present only with God Shiva and himself.

Raavana goes to Seetha

Raavanaas aides went to Raavana and told him.Hey lord!Indrajith fought a magnificientbattle with Lakshmana.But with Vibheeshanaas help,Lakshmana could kill Indrajith.Raavana fainted hearing this news.He started crying after getting up for a long time.He lamented his sons death.Hey son!You defeated even Indra.Was your efficency not enough to kill Lakshmana?Just because you are with Yama now,Yama is dear to me also.You died like a true warrior and went to heaven.Now,deities,sages and other celestial groups would have a happy sleep without any fear from us,dmons.Without Indrajith,entire universe is appearing blank and meaningless to me. Hey Indrajith!did you leave your princehood,Lanka,demons,your mother,me,your wife and every one else and go away?You had to do last rites to me but now I am forced to do your last rites.You are making m do them to you.Even now,Sugreeva Raama and Lakshmana are still alive.You had gone away without clearing my pain and my problem. From his sorrow was born anger.he grit his teeth and made such noise like machines make when they are turned on.He turned to his aides and told them.I did a great penance and obtained many boons from Brahma.Brahma gave me unbreakable armour,bow and arrows.No one can stand before me in battle.I would go and kill Raama and Lakshmana.I would behead Seetha,who is the root cause of this entire calamity.My son killed illusionary Seetha.I would kill real Seetha.Saying so,Raavana took his sword and went to Seetha.Many tried to curtail him but he proceded to where Seetha was sitting. Seetha began to weep seeing Raavana.Though I have a husband,this demon is killing me as if I were a destitute.Would he have killed even Raama and Lakshmana?That would never happen.He is unable to kill my husband and his brother.He is lamenting the loss of his son.So,he has come to take revenge on me.If I had gone with Hanumantha that day,when he told me to sit on his back and he would take me to Raama,this day would not have come to me. In the mean time,Mahaapaarsvudu,Raavanaas minister stopped him.Hey lord!you are not supposed to indulge in such an act.You are a great scholar.You learnt all the fields of efucation.All along you have been doing good things.Can a great man like you kill a woman?Safe guard her and her beauty.Show your anger on Raama.If you kill him,Seetha would automatically be yours.Go to the war.Today is Chathurdasi.Tomorrow is Amaavaasya.Make all the arrangements today and start to the war field tomorrow and fight.You will win dfinitely. Raavana heeded his ministers words and returned to his assembly to make war arrangements.He was sad,pathetic and shrivelled. He saluted his army chieves and told them.one,who made the entire universe tremble with fear,now is saluting his army chieves.hey army chiefs!take your armies along with you to war field and attack Raama.Even if you can not kill him,injure him and make him suffer his wounds.I would come tomorrow and will easily kill Raama ,who is already in pain and not full fledged because of wounds inflicted by you.

Lakshmana kills Indrajith

Lakshmana released Vaarunaasthram.Indrajith released Roudraasthram and nullifed its effect.Indrajith released Aagneyaasthram and Lakshmana nullified it by Souraasthram.Indrajith released Aasuraasthram.Lakshmana warded it by releasing Maaheswaraasthram.To view this magnificient battle,Deities,sages,Garudulu,Uragulu and many others came along with Devendra.They all protected Lakshmana from suffering with pain.Lakshmana took an arrow and chanted Aindraasthra manthram and created a magnificient celestial arrow.Lakshmana addressed that arrow.Hey arrow!if Dasaradhaas son,Raama,is roghteousman,truthful person,great warrior who can not be defeated by anyone,go and kill Indrajith.Saying so Lakshmana released the arrow.That arrow went cut off Indrajiths head.His head rolled on to the ground.Indrajith died.Vaanaraas and Vibheeshana were merry with happiness.Sages,Deities,Gandharvas and all others were happy.They rained flowers on Lakshmana.Vaanaraas shouted Lakshmano jayathi!hail Lakshmana!This war took place for three entire nights and days.Lakshmana was happy to kill a warrior who defeated even Indra. Lakshmanas body was filled with blood.Lakshmana went along with Hanumantha,Vibheeshana and other vaanara warriors to Raama.He circumscribed Raama,saluted him and simply said,Indrajith is dead.Vibheeshana said,Indrajiths head rolled down to earth by great Lakshmana. Sree Raama made Lakshmana sit on his thigh and hugged his brother and was looking at him with love and affection again and again.Lakshmana was shy before his brother. Raama told his brother.Naayanaa!you did a wonderful task by killing Indrajith.You brought me happiness.If Indrajith dies,it is as if Raavana himself died.It is as if we have already won the war.In this war,Vibheeshana,Hanumantha and many other vaanara warriors fought for three ahoraathrulu ie three full days and nights.Hey brother!you killed Indrajith.From now onwards,it would be a cake for me to acquireeither Seetha or this whole earth. Raama then called Sushenudu and told him.Sushena!Lakshmanaas body is filled with many arrows.You take off those arrows and treat him.You treat all those whose bodies are implanted with arrows and make them hale and healthy.Sushena brought one medicinal herb and made Lakshmana inhale it.Lakshmana immediately became strong and all his wounds and injuries disappeared.Sushena treated other warriors also and every one revived to normalcy.

Vibheeshana and Indrajith fight

On one side vaanaraas and demons were fighting.Then Indrajith addressed them.Hey demons!You fight with vaanaraas fiercely.I will go and get another chariot.If they realise that I am going to bring another chariot they would not allow me to go.So,you have to fight so vigorously that they should forget about me.Indrajith escaped into Lanka cunningly and came on a chariot.He started to fight again.Every one was astonished as how Indrajith could accomplish such an act in such a hort duration without any ones knowledge.Indrajith rained arrows on vaanaraarmy.Vaanaraas came to Lakshmana for their protection. Lakshmana displayed his talent and broke Indrajiths bow.Indrajith took another bow.Lakshmana released three arrows and broke that bow alao.He released five more arrows targeting Indrajiths armpit.Blood oozed from his body.His armour broke.Indrajith took another strong bow and released innumerable number of arrows on Lakshmana.Lakshmana warded all those arrows and used a pear and killed his charioteer.Even without charioteer,Indrajiths horses started turning the chariot in circles and helping Indrajith fight agilely.Every one astonished to see that scene. Both started attacking each other.Indrajith tried to break Lakshmanaas armour,but failed to do so.Sensing that Lakshmanaas armour s unbreakable,he released three arrows on to his forehead.Lakshmana planted five arrows on Indrajiths face.Blood flowed from the bodies of both warriors.Indrajith got angry on Vibheeshana and released three arrows on him.Vibheeshana too got angry and hit his horses with his mace and killed them.Indrajith got down from his chariot and released the power of his charioton toVibheeshana.Lakshmana released arrows and nullified its effect in the middle only.Vibheeshana hurt Indrajith by planting five arrows on his chest.Indrajith took took out arrow given by Yama released onto Vibheeshana.Lakshmana observed this released an arrow which was guven to him by Kubera,while he was dreaming.Both the arrows hit each other and nullified each others effect.

Indrajith shows his mettle in fighting

Vibheeshana is giving reason to vaanaraas for not killing Indrajith,himself.I,myself ,might have killed Indrajith for the sake of Raama.But it is not right to kill ones son.So,I am calm.When I am ready to kill him,my eyes are being blinded by tears.So,Lakshmana would kill him.Vaanaraas!you kill demon army.Encouraged by Vibheeshanaas words,Vaanaraas fought ferociously.Jaambavantha sent his army of bears to fight.Demons fought with them.Hanumantha also started fighting with demons. Fierce battle ensued between Lakshmana and Indrajith.Both were so efficient that no one could actually see them taking out the arrows,directing them and releasing them at the opponent.But arrows were falling in heaps.Entire sky was filled with them and darkness engulfed the battle field.Blood flowed in rivulets.Deities and sages came to view this magnificient fight.They were trembling even to see it.War did not stop.Lakshmana hurt Indrajith chariot horses and killed his charioteer with five arrows.Indrajith was managing his chariot himself and fighting simultaneously ina wonderfumanner.Every one was awestruck by his magnificient talent.But,how can he fight non stop.His opponent,Lakshmana ,is not an ordinary warrior.Lakshmana is finding Indrajiths weaknesses and targeting them.Indrajiths enthusiam dipped to low levels.His face became dull.Vaanaraas became strong and enthusiastic.Vaanara warriors,Pramaadhi,Sarabhudu,Rabhasudu and Gandhamaadanudu went together and hit the horses of Indrajiths chariot and killed them.They broke his chariot also.They came back and stood beside Lakshmana.Indrajith got down from his chariot and started fighting again.

Vibheeshana encourages Lakshmana

Indrajith addressed Lakshmana.Lakshmana!no one amongst you can kill me.Did you already forget that I bound you and your brother by naagapaasam in nisaayuddham?I would kill you now itself.Lakshmana aptly replied him.The acts which can not be completed,can they be completed by mere talk?The war you indulged that night and disapparing into th sky is not an act of warrior.It is done usually by culprits and thieves,not by brave people.If you are valiant,show your braverynow. Indrajith released arrows and they harmed Lakshmana and blood oozed from the injuries.Indrajith instigated that Lakshmana can not live for a long time.Lakshmana released five arrows on to Indrajiths chest.They indulged in fierce fight.Lakshmana released a celestial arrow on Indrajith.As soon as Indrajith heard the vibration of the bow string,his face became pale and colorless.Vibheeshana observed and cautioned Lakshmana.Lakshmana!aura of Indrajith is decreasing.Seeing his condition,I can assess that he lost concentration and confidence in himself.There is no doubt about it.Be faster and complete the mission you are assigned with.Lakshmana released fire ball like arrows and Indrajith fainted.But he revived soon and released seven arrows on Lakshmana.He released ten arrows on Hanumantha andhundrd arrows on Vibheeshana. Lakshmana humiliated Indrajith that his arrows were too short to reach their goal.He should taste his arrows now.To the arrows released by lakshmana Indrajiths armour broke into pieces.Indrajith got angry and rained arrows on Lakshmana.Like this they fought for a long time.Entire earh was filled with the arrows released by both of them.To encourage Lakshmana,Vibheeshana came near him and he too fought.He killed many demons by releasing powerful arrows.His ministers too fought.He encouraged vaanara warriors and vaanara army also.Hey vaanara warriors!only Indrajith is remaining.He is only source of hope for Raavana.If Indrajith dies,it amounts to loss of entire strength of Raavana.Only Raavana would be remaining.So do not delay.Leap into action and kill enemys army completely. Prahasthudu,Nikumbhudu,Kumbhakarnudu,Kumbhudu,Dhoomraakshdu,Jambumaali,Mahaamaali,Theekshnavegudu,Asaniprabhudu,Supthaghnudu,Yajnakopudu,Vajradanshtrudu,Samhaadri,VikatudumNighnudu,Thapanudu,Damudu,Praghaasudu,Praghanudu,Prajanghudu,Janghudu,and other dmon warriors died in your hands.You also killed Agnikethud,Rasmikethud,Vidyujjihvudu,Dvijihvudu,Sooryasathrudu,Kampanudu,Supaarsvudu,Chakramaali,Kampanudu and many other demon warriors.You put an end to Devaanthakudu and Naraanthakudu also.So,putting an end to remaining army is not a big dealfor you.

Indrajith scolds Vibheeshana

Indrajith saw Vibheeshana near Lakshmana.He got and angry and scolded his uncle.Raakshasaadhamaa!You were born here.You were brought up here.You are the younger brother of my father.But you planned to kill your son!Bad guy!you are not caring relationship friendship,clan,righteousness and other important factors.You left your people and family and became a servant to our enemy.You are such a fool and dull head that you are unable to differentiate between friendship with your own people and friendship with the enemy.Learn that even though our own people are wrong and the enemy is right,it is always better to stand with our own people.Outsider is always an outsider.He can never become our family person.A person who leaves his own people would never prosper in his life.As soon as his own people get depleted,enemy would definitely kill him too.You are a loafer.No other person would do such a nasty thing.You are a traitor. Vibheeshana replid his son.Dushtaathmaa! Why are you blabbering like that?Do you not know that even if I were born in demon clan,I am good charactered?I never liked bad deeds and wrong doings.That was the sole reason behind my leaving Raavanaas side.Wrong is wrong whether it is done by the enemy or your own people.So,righteous man never cares for relationships.We have to leave the person who leaves righteousness and hugs unrightfulness.Harming people,grabbing other peoples money,lusting for others wife are all very bad things.If a house is on fire,we have to leave it.Similarly,we have to leave a person who is bad charactered.Grabbing others money,kidnapping other peoples wives and not believing your friends are three bad traits which can destroy you. Raavana was proud and he humiliated and harmed sages.He went to war against deities.Raavana has all those bad characters which would deplete wealth and life.That was the main reason for discarding my brother. You,too,are a bad soul.Very soon,you,Raavana and all demons in Lanka are going to be killed.Just because your end is nearing,you are talking like this.Whatever you may do,but today you can not go near that tree.One,who has humiliated Raama and Lakshmana ,has no right to live.Lakshmana has come to war with you and kill you.You and your army can not return to Lanka alive today. Indrajith lost his temper.He took his bow and came for Vibheeshana aggressively.Lakshmana observed that indrajith was fighting from his chariot.So,he called Hanumantha and sat on his shoulders to fight with Indrajith.

Lakshmana stops Indrajith from completing homam

Lakshmana wore his armour,took his bow and arrows,sword and saluted Raama and touched his feet ith reverence.He circumscribed Raama ,took his blessings and started to go to Indrajith to kill him.Hanumantha and other vaanara warriors,Vibheeshana amd his ministers also accompanied him.He travelled long distance and saw army of demons.He enetered into enemys army.Vibheeshana told him.Lakshmanaa!see that side.If vaanara army attackes those enemy armies which are looking dark,you can see Indrajith.Demons were standing in a particular formation.You have to break that formation to see Indrajith.You too attack the army.Kill Indrajith.Lakshmana released severe arrows on the demon army.Vaanaraas attacked demons with full enthusiasm.Fierce fight ensued between both the parties.Demons were killed in large numbers. Indrajith heard this news and became very angry.Indrajith did not complete the homam.He got up from the dark area and came out.He alighted his chariot which was kept there earlier.He took his bow and arrows and looked ghastly.He came to fight with the enemy.Hanumatha increased his stature many times and killing demons in large numbers.Indrajith turned his chariot towards Hanumantha and released many arrows at him. Hanumantha dared Indrajith to fight with him.He even asked him for a duel.Vibheeshana understood that Indrajith was ready to kill Hanumantha.He alerted Lakshmana to that fact.Lakshmana!there is no time for us to wait and watch.Tou have to use powerful arrows and kill indrajith.Saying so,Vibheeshana took Lakshmana nearer to Indrajith.Vibheeshana showed Lakshmana the huge tree where Indrajith was doing yajnam.Lakshmana!are you seeing that black cloud like huge tree with roots growing from the branches and reaching into the earth.That is the place where Indrajith sacrifices ghosts to complete the homam.After sacrificing ghosts,he would come to the war field and kills the enemy by disappearing into the sky.You should not let Indrajith go near that tree at any cost.You have to kill him before he reaches this spot. Lakshmana kept his bow ready and stood near that tree to stop Indrajith.Indrajithwore his armour,took his bow,alighted his chariot and came there.He was seen by Lakshmana.Lakshmana called Indrajith to fight with him.

Vibheeshana reveals the secret of Indrajith

In the mean time,Vibheeshana retained the vaanara armies in their respective places and came over to Raama.Sree Raama was lying in Lakshmanaas lap and weeping.All other vaanara warriors were also sad.Vibheeshana also worried for some time along with them and then asked the reason for their sadness.Tears flowing down his cheeks,Lakshmana started telling him the reason.Vibheeshana!Hanumantha told us that Indrajith killed Seetha.Hearing that news,Raama fainted.Vibheeshana told them not to worry if that was the reason for their greif.Hanumantha was tricked.Would Raavana allow Seetha to be killed?It is not even possible to see her.In that case,bringing her into the war zone and killing her are impossible.Indrajith killed illusionary Seetha.Indrajith planned this tactics,so that vaanaraas would not be alert because of this reason and at the same time he can comfortably go to Nikumbhila temple and do homam without any problem.There is no other reason for this type of action. If Indrajith completes that Yajnam succesfully,no one can defeat him.So,we have to see that it is not completed,performed succesfully.So,we should now go there along with our armies to stop him from completing the yanjnam.Hey lord Raama! There is no valid reason for your greif.It is all just an illusion of the eyes.Encourage the armies.Be confident and happy.Send Lakshmana along with army.We have to kill Indrajith before completion of the yajnam.If not,he would disappear again and harm us immensely. Raama heard what all Vibheeshana told him.He could not grasp the correct meaning as he was sorrowful.He asked him to repeat his words again.Vibheeshana told him again.Lord Raama!there is no valid reason for your sadness.Indrajith killed Illusionary Seetha only.Leave aside your sorrow,which would encourage the happiness of our enemies.prepare for the war with enthusiasm.If you want to kill demons and secure Seetha,hear my words.Send Lakshmana to Nikumbhila along with large army.Lakshmana is sure to kill Indrajith.If the yajnam is completed succesfully,it would be very difficult for us to be alive. Listen!Brahma gave boon to Indrajith.when you try to do homam,and if it is not completed and you do not reach Nikumbhila in time,when you are going there with your weapons,the enemy who attacks you would kill you.Brahma said this to Indrajith.Lord Raama!now that time has come.All the signs are convenient.So we have to start trying to stop Indrajith from his mission.Consider that Raavana is dead if Indrajith dies. Raama replied.Vibheeshana!I know the magical powers of Indrajith.I will send Lakshmana to Nikumbhila as per your directions.Raama turned towards Lakshmana and told him.Lakshmana!take Hanumantha and other vaanara warriors and vaanara army along with you and kill that Indrajith.Vibheeshana would accompany you along with his ministers as he is familiar with that place and to be of help to you.

Lakshmanaas soliloquy

Lakshmana was very sad and unhappy with all these developments.He started talking.Hey brother!you belief in righteousness and came to this stage.Your belief in righteousness could not protect you from dangers and difficulties.So,I believe that there is no righteousness in this world.Right and wrong are two useless words.If not,Raavana should have been troubled.You,who always moves in right path,should lead a happy life.But in actual reality,you are suffering and Raavana is happy and enjoying his life.Wealth of wrong persons is increasing.Good people are becoming poorer by day.So,talking and debating regarding right and wrong are utterly useless acts. Righteousness has no strength really.Only with the help of bravery,it can exist.Otherwise,it has no existance.So,we need not abide by the rules of righteousness.It is better to rely on bravery rather than this trait. Hey Raama!should one not stand on his words?Our father told that he would make you the crown prince but he went back on his words.Why did you not jail him for that?Financial soundness is the only basis for righteousness.But you did not pay heed to my advice.You discarded kingdom and came to forest. Financially sound person alone can attain anything and every thing.Poor person has no aura and he can not do anything right.Entire world revolves around finance.Only wealthy people have friends.Even relatives concentrate around wealthy persons.World praises those who have money and wealth.They praise those as scholars ,who have money with them.Wealthy person is praised as valiant,intelligent,lucky,good charactered and good natured.If we distance ourselves from wealth and materialistic assets,people would find fault in our every move.EVEN TODAY,I fail to understand why you have foregone your kingdom?Everything favors those who have money.Every thing goes wrong,if you are poor. Raama!happiness,lust,pride,righteousness,anger,kindness,helping nature...all these work out well and appear pronounced if you wealthy.A poor man,however righteous he might be,is not respected in this society. Raamaa!you respected your fathers words and came to the forest.What did you achieve by it?You lost your beautiful wife,whom you love to the utmost extent,to a demon.Raavan kidnapped her and Indrajith did major damage to you by killing Seetha.Hey brother!get up.I will wipe off your unhappiness with my valor.Get up!get up!!you are a great soul.You are unable to realise it.Raamaa!forgive me.I talked rubbish being in the grip of unhappiness over Seethaas death.I talked like that only to revive you and encourage you.nothing else!I know that you are unblemished.I would go now itself and kill Raavana and all his aides. Lakshmana ,seekng his brothers pardon for his talk,is apt.Because,sometimes we might feel that trying to walk in the path of righteousness is a mere waste.We might also feel that those who are walking in the wrong path are enjoying their life to the fullest extent.But,we should never forget that righteousness alone wins in the end.

Raama hears about Seethaas death

Hanumantha requested the vaanaraas not to run away.Vaanaraas!why are you running away?Show your valor!Running away from war sight is not an important trait of a brave soldier.Come back.I will walk in the front.Come along with me and fight your best ability.Conceding Hanumanthaas request,vaanaraas returned and started fighting again.Hanumantha smashed the dmon army forces like Kaalaanthaka.He threw a great boulder on to the Indrajiths chariot.Before that boulder fell on the chariot,Indrjith moved it awa and the boulder fell on the demons who died on the spot in large numbers.Vaanaraas started throwing large boulders and tees on Indrajith.Indrajith warded off their on slaught and killed many vaanaraas with h arrows.Hanumantha threw many boulders and trees and did a great fight.After some time ,he told his colleagues.Hey vaanaraas!let us turn back.Our mission is not to kill demons.We came to take back Seetha from Lanka.But she is no more.She has been killed by Indrajith before our eyes.W will informThis ghastly fact to Raama and Sugreeva and act as per their advice. As per Indrajiths plan,things turned out.Hanumantha saw Seethadevi recently.So,unless Hanumantha confirms death of Seetha,Raama would not believe it.So,Indrajith came towards western entrance and did this cruel game.We can imagine how strong was the illusion,if Hanumantha himself could not differentiate between actual Seetha and illusionary Seetha.Seeing Hanumantha return back,Indrajith went Nikumbhila sakthi temple to do Homam as per procedure. Hearing the moise of war at western entrance,Raama sent Jaambavantha to help Hanumantha.Jaambavantha started with his army of bears.Hanumantha sent them back and came to Raama fast to tell him about the news of Seethaas death. Hanumantha told Raama with much sadness.Hey lord Raama!while we were fighting war,Indrajith killed Setha before our ees only.I did not know what to do.So,I came to tell you about it.Hearing this news,Raama fainted and fell onthe ground.Vaanara warriors surrounded him and tried to revive him.They sprinkled cool water on his face.They fanned him.They sprinkled scented water on him.Lakshmana was very sad.He held his brothers head on his lap and wept.

Indrajith kills illusionary Seetha

Though indrajith entered the palac,his desire to kill Raama and Lakshmana did not die.He entered warfild fromwestern gate.He saw Raama and Lakshmana ready for the fight.Till he completed performing Nikumbhilaa homam,he anted them to be sad and depressed.For this to attain,he thought of a plan.He had acunning plan.He wanted vaanaraas to view him while he killed illusionary Seetha.He turned his chariot facing Vaanaraas.As vaanaraas saw Indrajith come owards them,they attacked him with boulders.Hanumantha was at the western gate.He took a great mountain top and went towards Indrajith.He saw illusionary figure of Seetha in Indrajiths chariot.She was desperate,dejected and weak with no strength.Her hair was not combed.Her hair was in mats.She wore unclean clothes.He body was full of dust and perspiration.Hanumantha saw Seetha recently when he went to Ashokavanam in search of her.So,he could identify her.He was sad seeing Seetha in that despicable condition.He thought as what ould have been the reason for Indrajith to bring Seetha to the war field.He could not think of any valid reason.In anger,Hanumantha lounged at Indrajith with his army.Indrajith,too,became angry and put his sword to Seethaas neck.Illusionary Seetha cried,Raamaa!Raamaa!,desperately.Before vaanaraas,Indrajith hit her many times.He dragged her by her hair.Hanumantha wept seeing that scene. He cried in desperation.Hey vicious man!Instead of geeting burnt by your nasthy actions,are you holding Seetha by her hair?You should be burnt for this ghastly act of yours.Are you not ashamed to indulge in such cheap tactics?You can never live long after this act.This sin of yours would not leave you even after death.Saying so Hanumantha again went after Indrajith to fight him. Sugreeva replied him.Hey vaanaraa!Sugreeva,You and Raama are fighting for this Seetha only.I will you before your eyes only.After killing Seetha,I will kill Raama,Lakshmana,you,Sugreeva and Vibheeshana.You told that a woman should not be killed.But bad danger can be removed in what ever form it is.There is nothing wrong in it.Saying so,Indrajith killed illusionary Seetha with his sword,across her body.Seetha fell down.Indrajith addressed Hanumantha that as Seetha is killed,there was no necessity for them to fight any longer.Indrajith roared like a lion and vaanaraas ran away from there.

Raavana sends Indrajith to war

Raavana grieved very much hearing the demise of Makaraakshudu.From sorrow,he became angry.He crushed his teeth and thought of what he should do next.He called for his son,Indrajith.Hey warrior son!at any cost you have to kill Raama and Lakshmana.I do not know whether you fulfill the task by fighting direct or by disappearing in the sky.Take your entire army with you.You defeated Indra.It is a negligible matter for you to kill human beings.Indrajith agreed to do as per his fathers bidding.He went to Yajna bhoomi to do the homam or yajnam.Demon women readied red clothes for Ruthviks to wear and other materials necessary to do Yajna.As usual,Indrajith did Homam to regain strength to attain invisibility .He alighted a chariot,became invisible,secure with Brahmaasthram and entered war field.He attacked Raama and Lakshmana,who were in the middle of vaanara army.Raama and Lakshmana released arrows which covered the entire sky,but not even a single arrow touched Indrajith.Indrajith darkened the sky with his magical powers and released arrows on Raama and Lakshmana.Brothers could neither hear the sound of releasing the arrows from bow,sound of wheels of the chariot nor sound of the hoofs of the horses.But arrows from Indrajith came in large numbers.Bodies of Raama and Lakshmana were filled with many arrows.Arrows ,which Raama and Lakshmana released touched Indrajiths body and fell down drenched in blood.They were releasing arrows in the direction from where arrows attcaked them,but by them Indrajith moved from that place and attacked from all directions.Vaanaraas died in large numbers. Lakshmana got angry with these developments and told Raama that he would release Brahmaasthram intending destruction of entire demon clan.Raama told him that it was not wised apt to kill all the demons in the world just to kill a single demon.I will,now kill Imdrajith ,wherever he might be ,like in Earth,Heaven,Rasaathalam,sky or wherever he might go and hide,with my arrows.He would die and fall down on the ground.Hearing Raamas determined promise to kill him,Indrajith stopped his fight and went back to the city.

Makaraakshudu dies in the hands of Sree Raama

Raavana heard the sad news of demise of Kumbhudu and Nikumbhudu.He called for Makaraakahudu,son of Kharudu.He told him to go and kill Raama,Lakshmana and the vaanara army and come back.Makaraakshudu turned around Raavana,saluted and started for the war field.He came across bad omens but he did not mind them.He proceded for the battle field.Charioteers whip fell down.His flag fell down.Horses tied to his chariot slipped and wept.Seeing Makaraakshudu enter the field with h army,vaanaraas also got ready with their weapons.Makaraakshudu rained arrows on them.Demons were fighting with all their might with enthusiasm.Vaanaraas were afraid and running away.Seeing this,demons ran after them.Sree Raama saw this and rained arrows on demons and withheld them effectively. Makaraakshudu addressed Raama.Raamaa!if you are strong fight with me in duel.You killed my father in Dandakaaranya.I would kill you now and appease my hunger.You can choose whatever weapon you want to fight with.I will also fight with you with the same weapon. Raama retaliated in a stinging manner.Makaraakshaa!why are you blabbering useless words.We have to win wars by fighting in the war,not by useless rubbish talk.I killed fourteen thousand demons in Dandakaaranyam.I killed Dooshana,Thrisirudu and Kharudu.I will send you ,too,to yamapuri ie hell.Makaraakshudu got angry with these words and released arrows on Raama.Raama broke those arrows in the middle itself.Both fought a great battle.Deities and sages came in aeroplanes to see their fight.Both were great warriors.They were effectively warding off each others arrows.War field was filled with arrows.Sree Raama broke the bow of Makaraaksha nad killd his charioteer.He killed horses of the chariot too.Makaraakshudu got down from his chariot and attacked with a spear.Sree Raama broke the spear with three arrows.Makaraakshudu came upon Sree Raama with clenched fists.Raama smilingly released Aagneyaasthram and killed Makaraakshudu.Remaining demons ran into the city.Deities and sages were happy to see Makaraaksha die in the hands of Raama.

Kumbha killed by Sugreeva

Kumbhudu took his bow and released an arrow on Dvividudu.Dvividudu fainted.Maindudu threw a boulder on Kumbhudu.But,Maindudu also fainted by arrows of Kumbhudu.Angada also fought a fierce battle with Kumbhudu ,but he too fainted.Vaanaraas ran to Raama to save themslves.Sree Raama sent Jaambavantha and other vaanara warriprs for Angadaas help.Jaambavantha lounged on to Kumbhudu,along with Vegadarsi and Sushenudu.Kumbhudu succesfully made those warriors numb and dumb.Sugreeva observed this and went to fight with Kumbhudu,himself.In the mean time,Angadudu regained consciousness and went to help Sugreeva.Fierce battle ensued between Sugreeva and Kumbhudu.Sugreeva broke Bow of Kumbhudu effectively.Sugreeva addressed Kumbhudu in a humiliating manner.Kumbhudaa!you are a great warrior.No doubt about it.But you are tired after fighting with so many vaanara warriors.Take rest.After that you can see my valor.With these instigating remarks of Sugreeva,Kumbhudu got angry.He lounged at Sugreeva and he D Sugreeva tight in both the hands.They fought like proud elephants.Sugreeva held Kumbhudu high and threw him into the sea.Kumbhudu flew back and hit Sugreeva on his chest.Sugreeva got angry and hit him on his chest.With that,Kumbhudu fell down and died. Nikumbhudu took a clubnd started to fight.Hanumantha stood before him.Nikumbhudu hit Hanumantha on his chest with the club.That club broke into hundred pieces as soon as it touched Hanumanthaas chest.Hanumantha hit Nikumbhudu on his chest ,with his fists.Blood ran in rivulets from the body of Nikumbhudu.He fainted but revived and held Hanumantha fast in hos grip.Both fought a great fight.Hanumantha held his head in his hands and turned it so that he broke his neck and dislocated his head.

Lanka on fire again

Sugreeva called Hanumantha and told him.Hanumantha!we have to do one yhing now.Kumbhakarna and sons of Raavana are killed.Raavana is grieving their loss.We have to get ready for war.Brave warriors amongst us should enterthe city of Lanka with torches.Vaanaras took torches and started.Demons got afraid and ran away.Vaanaraas lit fire to citys entrance gates,forts,buildings and houses.Thosands of godowns and houses got burnt.Huge mansions got burnt and crumbled.clothes,ornaments,vehicles,furniture,armors,weapons,and what not,every thing burned to ashes.People who were wearing armor,eating food,drinking wine in bars ,loving couples,sleeping demons,took their children and ran out from their burning homes.Many demons,women and men,children,aged got killed by the engulfing fire.Horses and elephants broke their chains and ran hither and thither.Entire city of Lanka was on fire.Wailings of demons and happy shoutings of vaanaraas reverberated the city.Raama and Lakshmana also were ready with their bow and arrows.Raama looked like like Siva,who was vibrating the strings of his celestial bow.Lankaas eantrance crashed down to the arrows of Raama.Demons also fought bavk.That night was fearful for every one. Sugreeva directed vaanaraas to attack the entrance gate of Raavanaas palace.Taking this cue,vaanaraas neared the entrance of Raavanaas palace.Raavana got angry and sent Kumbhakarnaas sons,Nikumbhudu and Kumbhudu to fight with them.Yoopaakshudu,Sonithaakshudu,Praghanudund Kampanudu moved along with them for the war.Raavana blessed them and sent them to put an end to the enemys onslaught.Fierce fight ensued between vaanaraas and demons.Many soldiers died on both the sides.Angada killed Akampanudu with a huge boulder.Sonithaasudu attacked Angada.Prajanghudu and Yoopaakshudu also attacked Angada.Dvividudu came to Angadaas help.They fought mercilessly.Maindudu also came to help angada.Angada killed Prajanghudu.Dvividudu killed Sonithaasudu and Maindudu put an end to Yoopaakshudu.

Hanumantha brings the hill with medicinal plants

Hanumantha climbed Mountain of Lanka and increased his body and roared like a lion.Demons were afraid hearing that sound.He built up momentum to increase speed.To that momentum,that mountain broke into pieces.City of Lanka trembled.Houses and minars broke down.Hanumantha saluted Raama.Hanumantha lifted his snake like tail into the air,bent his back,stiffened his ears and opened his mouth and leapt into the air.He was going like Vishnu chakram,fast and furious.He crossed the sea,mountains,rivers,forests,cities,villages and tribal places and reached Himalaayas ,with the speed of the air.There he saw hermits of Sages,Brahma kosakshethram,Kailaas parvatham,Brahma kapaalam,Kuberuni sdhaanam,Brahmaasanam,Sivadhanussu sdhaanam and bhoomandala naabhi.He found the mountain with the medicinal herbs and searched for the medicinal herbs.Though he travelled long distance,he did not get tired and did not take any rest.As soon as he landed on the mountain,he started searching for the medicinal herbs.Thinking some one had come to grab them,those herbs disappeared.Hanumantha got angry and dislocated the mountain and carried it on his palm and reached Lanka.He landed on the ground and placed the mountain in the centre of vaanara army.He went to Jaambavantha and saluted him.He hugged Vibheeshana.As soon as they inhaled the smells of those medicinal herbs,Raama,Lakshmana and vaanara warriors regained consciousness and got up.Even those who were dead ,came back alive and hale and healthy.Dead demons did not regain life,because though many demons got killed in the war,Raavana dumped their dead bodies in to the sea to save his face,so that actual figures can never be ascertained by any one.Hanumantha took back the mountain and placed it at the place from where he took it.Then he returned back to Raamaas presence.

Jaambavanthaas advice to Hanuma

Vibheeshana saw the plight of Raama and Lakshmana.He started to reinstate enthusiasm in the vaanara army.Hey vaanaraas!Raama and Lakshmana are just lying on the ground to respect Brahmaasthram.They will get up soon.Be otimistic.Do not lose hope.Hanumantha,who too was lying down to respect Brahmaasthram,heard these wprds of Vibheeshana and got up.He said to Vibheeshana.Vibheeshana!all these vaanaraas are on the ground in an unconscious state.We have to search who is alive and who is not.Let us search.Saying so,both held torches and started searching for those who were alive among the fallen vaanaraas.Whwere ever they saw,there were vaanaraas whose tails were cut off,hands and legs cut off,beheaded and dead vaanaraas.Indrajith killed sixty seven crores of vaanaraas in a single evening in five gadiyaas. Hanumantha and Vibheeshana searched for Jaambavantha.They found him lying down and suffering from many arrows on his body.Vibheeshana went near him and enquired if the arrows dis not kill him and he is still alive.Jaambavantha spoke in a low and weak voice.I am unable to see properly.Are you Vibheeshana?I am identifying by your voice.Is Hanumantha alive?Vibheeshana was astonished to hear his words.Jaambavantha!what is this?You have not even enquired about Raama and Lakshmanaas well being but you are asking if Hanumantha is safe or not.Why are you nit showing your love of Your king Sugreeva,prince Angada or Raama and Lakshmana? To this question of Vibheeshana ,Jaambavantha explained.Vibheeshana!there is really a great reason behind my enquiry of Hanumantha.Even if the entire army is lost and Only Hanumantha is alive,feel that we will win the war.Assume that entire army is alive though in actual fact it is not the factor.If Hanumantha is dead,feel that we are all dead even if we are alive.Hanumantha is equal to God of Air,Vaayudeva.He brave like Agnideva,God of Fire.If great warrior like Hanumantha is alive,we can hope to live. Hanumantha heard all these words of Jaambavantha and touched his feet with reverence and told him that he was saluting him.Jaambavantha recognised him by his voice and his hopes revived.He addressed Hanumantha.Hanumantha!my son!did you come?Come to me! Now it is your reaponsibility to save every one.No other person can handle this situation.Time has come for you to show your might.You are the only one who can rejuvenate Raama,Lakshmana and the entire vaanara army.You leap into action and make all of us happy.Hanuma!travel over the sea to Himaalayaas.There are two mountain tops,Kaanchana sikharamu and Kailaas sikharamu.In between there is a hill with medicinal plants.Mainly four medicinal plants Mruthasanjeevani,Visalyakarani,Sowvarnakarani,Sandhaana karani will be shining .Go fast and bring those medicinal herbs immediately.Please donate lives to all the dead warriors.

Indrajith gets ready for war

Saying proud words ,Indrajith took permission from his father to go to the war.He alighted a chariot dragged by donkeys and took a large army along with him.He directed demons to protect his chariot while he went to do Homam.He did homam ie ritual done by alighting fire and chanting manthraas.He killed a live goat to appease the gods.Homam was completed succesfully.Then he chanted the manthraas for Brahmaasthram and touched his chariot,bow and other weapons with it.Along with his arrows,bow,sword and chariot drawn by horses,he disappeared into the sky.His army entered the war field with much enthusiasm.Demons rained arrows on Vaanara armies.Indrajith killed many vaanaraas by raining arrows.Vanaraas fought back without caring for their lives.They rained Indrajith with boulders and trees.Indrajith warded them off effectively and harmed vaanaraas effectively.He released eighteen arrows on Gandhamaadanudu,nine on Naludu,Seven on Maindudu,five on Gajudu effectively.He releases more powerful arrows on Sugreeva,Rushabha,Angada and Dvivida and made them faint.He caused grave loss to the vaanara army.He was happy seeing vaanara warriors dumb struck and unable to do anything to retaliate his onslaught.Indrajiths arrows were raining on vaanaraas but they could not see him.They uplifted their faces towards sky in an effort to find him but arrows blinded them by falling into their eyes.Indrajith wounded Hanumantha,Sugreeva,Angada,Jaambavantha,Naludu,Kumududu,Kesari,Neeludu,Gajudu and Gavaakshudu.He rained arrows even on Raama and Lakshmana. Raama advised Lakshmana at that time.Lakshmana!Indrajith is taking the help of Brahmaasthram to wipe out vaanaraas and attacking us simultaneously.He is not visible to us.So,we can not kill him now.As we know that effect of Brahmaasthram is immense,we should bear the onslaught of arrows now.Seeing us fainted,he would feel happy and go back from the war field feeling victorious. Raama and Lakshmana fell down suffering Indrajiths arrows.Seeing Raama,Lakshmana and vaanara warriors in unconscious state,Indrajith returned to the city.

Raavana grieves loss of Athikaayudu

Raavanas grief had no bounds when he heard of the death of Athikaayudu.He lamented.Ah!great warriors who never tasted defeat in their lives got killed in the hands of Raama.Dhoomraakshudu,Akampanudu,Prahasthudu,Kumbhakarnudu and other great warriors died in the war.Raama and Lakshmana could unwind the powerful Naagaasthram.I do not know whether it is their effect,magic or foul play.As per my words,no demon who has gone to war returned alive and victorious.Every one is getting killed.I am unable to find an able warrior who can defeat the royal brothers accompanied by Vibheeshana.Raamas valor is magnificient.Many demons died due to the vast effect of of Raamaas arrows and weapons and his knowledge of how to use them,when to use them and where to use them.I doubting if Raama is not another incarnation of Naaraayana ,himself.I had close the gates of Lanka just because I am afraid of Raama and no one else. Raavana turned towards demons and directed them to safe guard the city.He told them to be alert all the time.He warned them to keep Seetha in a safe place and keep an eye on who is going in and coming out of Ashokavanam and inform him immediately.Be aware of vaanaraas during evenings,middle of the nights,early mornings,and simply through the entire day and night.Safe guard the places where our armies are placed.Saying so,Raavana returned to his chambers being unhappy and sad over his sons death. Indrajith started consoling his father.Father!ypu should not be happy as long as I am alive.See!hear the promise of God blessed Indrajith!I take oath that I would kill Raama and Lakshmana now itself.Now,all deities,Sun and Moon and all the five elements would observe my bravery and valor.

Lakshmana kills Athikaayudu

Athikaayudu took his bow and started talking to Lakshmana.Lakshmanaa!you are just a lad.You do not know anything about valor.I am like death.Why do you want to fight with me?Leave your bow and arrows and go away from this place.If you do not like my words accept my arrows.If you are strong enough save yourself from my arrows. Lakshmana replied him.hey vaachaalaa(one who blabbers)!does any warrior ondulge in useless talk?I am ready.Show me your strength if you can.You are full fledged with all kinds of weapons and in a chariot.You can use whatever arrows or weapons you want to use.After that,I would definitely kill you.Just as a ripe fruit falls to the ground,your head would roll on to the ground by me.Do not under estimate my power thinking that I am just a lad.Whether I am a boy or an aged person,I am going to be your death in this war.Was not Vishnu in the form of a boy when he measured all the three worlds in Thrivikramaavathaaram? Both had a severe fight.Vidyaadharaas,Sages,deities and demons came to see their fight.Both of them used what all the arrows they had with them.Each was destroying the arrow of the other effectively.Lakshmana released an arrow which hit Athikaayudu on his fore head and blood spilled.Athikaayudu praised Lakshmana.Then he rained many arrows on Lakshmana.Lakshmana warded off all those arrows succesfully.Athikaayudu released a powerful arrow which hit Lakshmana on his chest and blood oozed freely from that wound.Lakshmana took out that arrow from his body and released Aagneyaasthram.Athikaayudu released Souraasthram.Both burnt one another and fell down.Athikaayudu released Aishikaasthram and Lakshmana replied it with Aindraasthram.Athukaayudu released Yaamyaasthram and Lakshmana released Vaayavyaasthram.Lakshmana released so many arrows on Athikaayudu but they fell down his armour without injuring him.Then Vaayudeva whispered in the ears of Lakshmana that as Athikaayaas armour was given by Brahma as a boon and it can not be destroyed.It can only be destroyed by Brahmaasthram only.Lakshmana heeded Vaayudevaas advice and released Brahmaasthram.Dueto its effect,Sun and Moon trembled.Other planets were in the grip of fear.Earth shivered.Athikaayudu tried very much to nullify its effect but to no avail.He used Sakthi,maces,clubs,spears and many other weapons.They did not come to his rescue.They all became waste and useless.Lakshmanaas Brahmaasthram cut off Athikaayaas head along with his crown.His head fell to the ground.Demons ran into the. City of Lanka.Vaanaraas were very happy.Every one praised Lakshmana on his achievement.

Vibheeshana tells Raama about Athikaayudu

Mahaapaarsvudu saw Thrisirudu getting killed.He could not withstand it.So,he started killing vaanaraas with his mace.Rushabhudu lounged at Mahaapaarsvudu.but Mahaapaarsvudu hit him on his chest.Rushabhudu fainted for a minute,but revuved and took the mace and hit mahaapaarsvudu.With that blow,Mahaapaarsvudu died.Demons started running away from the war field.Athikaayudu saw these velopments.He was not an ordinary demon.He was agreat warrior.He obtained boons from Brahma.He alighted on a chariot with Bow and arrows.He was telling his name and roaring like a lion and started falling on the vaanaraas.Vaanaraas thought that Kumbhakarna was alive and came again to eat them.So,they all started running away.Some came to Raama and sought his help.Raama saw Athikaayudu from a distance and was astonished.He started enquiring Vibheeshana regarding that huge demon. Vibheeshana!who is that mountain like dmon?He is coming in a chariot which is dragged by thousand horses.Four charioteers are managing the chariot.His bow is magnanimous like that of Indraas bow.There are thirty eight arrow holders,bows and strings in his chariot.He has two swords of the length of ten arms.Who is this great demon?Vibheeshana answered him.Hey lord!He is Raavanaas son.His mother is Dhaanyamaalini.His name is Athikaayudu.He equals Raavana in valor.He has good knowledge of all the weapons.He is a great scholar,too.He serves old and aged people.He is well versed in politics.With his help only ,Lanka is safe.He did great penance and pleased Brahma and obtained boons from him.He got boon that he would not be killed by either demons or deities.Brahma had presented him with armour for his chariot.He won over demons and deities many a time.He stilled Indraas Vajraayudham once.We have to kill him immediately.Other wise,our vaanara armies would get by his arrows.Athikaayudu entered into vaanaraas army.Kumududu,Dvividudu,Maindud,Neeludu and Sarabhudu attacked him simultaneously.But Athikaayudu stopped the boulders and trees which kapi warriors threw at him.He rained arrows on vaanara warriors.Vaanaraas could not withstand his onslaught and ran away.He did not go after them.He talked to Raama proudly. Raama!I am ready with my bow and arrows.I do not like to fight with weaklings.If there is any brave warrior amongst you,tell him to come.Lakshmana got angry with these words and stretched his bow string.Its reverberations filled earth,sky,mountains,seven seas and in all the directions.Demons hearts shivered with that sound.Even Athikaayudu was awe struck with that sound.

Raavanaas sons go to war

Raavana decorated his sons,hugged them and sent them to the war.He blessed them.He sent his brothers,Yuddhonmaththudu(Mahodarudu)and Maththudu(Mahaapaarsvudu)along with his sons to help them.All of them saluted him and Eft for battle field.Mahodarudu alighted an elephant named,Sudarsunudu and shone like a Sun.Thrisirudu put three crowns on his three heads,took his bow and arrows and headed to the battle field in his chariot.Athikaayudu went in his wide chariot.Naraanthakudu took a spear and went on a white horse.Devaanthakudu took a club and Mahaapaarsvudu took a mace.All were great warriors.They were ready to fight till death or victory smiles on them.Vaanaraas were ready with trees and boulders to fight the enemy.Both sides roared like lions and indulged in fierce fight.Battle field was filled with dead bodies of vaanaraas,demons,broken chariots,dead elephants and horses.Blodd was flowing like river. Naraanthakudu took Sakthi,power,and entered vaanara army and killed many vaanaraas.Vaanaraas ran in all the directions.Then Sugreeva directed Angada to fight with Naraanthakudu.Naraanthakudu threw a spear at Angada.But as soon as it touched Angadaas chest it broke into pieces.Angada killed Horse of Naraanthaka with bare hands.Both entered into fist fight.Naraanthakudu got killed by Angada in a duel.Sree Raama praised Angada on his achievement.Again Angada became ready for war.Mahodarudu,Devaanthakudu and Thrisirudu attacked Angada at a time.Angada did not waver but fought back.He killed Mahodaraas elephant by hitting it with his fists.He broke The tusk of the elephant and beat Devaanthakudu with it.All three demons surrounded Angada.Seeing this,Hanumanthudu,Neeludu came to his rescue.Hanumantha hit Devaanthakudu with his fists on his head and Devaanthakud died on the spot. Mahodarudu came on an elephant and released many arrows at Neeludu.For some time,Neeludu could not move even an inch.Then he recouped and threw a great boulder at Mahodarudu.Mahodarudu died along with his elephant by the force of the boulder. Thrisirudu took his bow and attacked Hanumantha.Fierce fight ensued between them.Thrisirudu attacked him with Sakthi,but Hanumantha caught it with his hands and broke it into two pieces.Then,Thrisirudu attacked him with a sword.Hanumantha got angry and hit him on his chest with his flat palm.Thrisirudu fainted and fell down.Sword slipped from his hand.Hanumantha took that sword and roared.Thrisirudu stood up and hit him.Then,Hanumantha cut off all the three heads of Thrisirudu.

Raavana saddened by Kumbhakarnaas death

Demon warriors ran to Raavana and started explaining how Kumbhakarna died in the hands of Raama.Hey lord!Kumbhakarna showed valor in the war field and killed many vaanaraas.But in the died,he got killed by Raamaas aura.Only half of his body is visible.Remaining part went into the sea.His legs,hands and head are lying in various places,being cut off by Raama.His head is obstructing the main gate way of Lanka.Hearing this news,Raavana fainted and fell down.Devaanthakudu,Naraanthakudu,Thrisirudu and Athikaayudu wept for their paternal younger uncle.Mahodarudu and Mahaapaarsvudu wept for their brothers loss.Raavana started lamenting on his brothers death.He said,hey brother!you too got killed by the enemy.Before clearing my unhappiness,you passed away!I am feeling as if I have lost my right shoulder,Now,deities and sages would feel happy.Soon,vaanaraas are going to take over forts and entrances of Lanka.You did not care even Indraas Vajraayudham.But ,now,you got killed by Raamaas arrows.Now,I do not care or wish my life or Seetha.I too would follow my brother and give away my life. I can not live without my brother.Now,all those deities,who were harmed by me,would now laugh at me and be hilarious.What all Vibheeshana told that day are happening now.exactly in the same fashion.Because of my ignorance,I did not pay heed to his words.I even sent him away,unnecessarily.I am suffering for all my sins.Talking like this,he fainted again. Thrisirudu consoled his father.Father!my uncle died because of fate,like a warrior.You should not repent for his loss.You are a great scholar.You,alone,can defeat all three worlds and this entire universe.Brahma gave you Sakthi,armour,bow and arrows and chariot.It will never be difficult for you to win over him.Even you are not necessary.I am enough for them.I will wash out our enemies.Hearing these words,Devaanthakudu,Naraanthakudu and Athikaayudu got encouraged and were ready to go for war.Raavana felt some relief.All these sons of Raavana were naturally strong enough.Besides their strength,they have boon of deities and they are well versed with tricks and maaya.

Kumbhakarna dies in the hands of Raama

Sree Raama released Roudraasthram onto Kumbhakarnaas chest.Weapons slipped from Kumbhakarnaas hands.He started foghting with hs hands and legs.Entire body as filld with blood.He is unable to differntiate beteen demons and vaanaraas and so atong all of them.He took a mountain cliff ,swirled it and threw it at Raama.Raama broke it in th middle itself with his arrow.Kumbhakarna started runnng after Vaanaraas.To ward it off Lakshmana thought of a plan.Kumbhakarna drank blood and he is swooning.He is unable o differntiate between Demons and vaanaraas.If vaanara warriors climb on his and press him so that he can not mov,kumbhakarna might stop eating vaanaraas.Vaanaraas climbe on to Kumbhakarna but he brushed them aside easily.Seeing all this,Raama released another arrow at Kumbhakarna.Kumbhakarna became ready to attack Raama.Then Raama warnd him.hey Raakshasa!see my arrow.I can kill you now itself.Do not be proud that you have deated Indra.I am Raama.I will dfinitely kill you. Kumbhakarna also answered him equally.Hey Raama!are you thinking that I am like Viraadha,Kabandha,Khara,Vaali or Maareecha?I am Kumbhakarna!See this club.I killed deits ith this musalam only.Do not under estimate me that I do not have ears and nose.It is not a big loss to me.I do not care for them.Come on! Show me your valor.After that I will eat you alive. Raama attacked him with many arrows but could not affect Kumbhakarna.Neither the arrow which broke the seven trees,nor the arrow which killd Vaali could kill Kumbhakarna.Kumbhakarna stopped many of those arrows with hs club and started attacking vaanara army.Sree Raama released Vaayavyaasthram and it cut the arm of Kumbhakarna.As his arm ,along with Mudgaramu,fell on vaanaraas,they died.Raama and Kumbhakarna them fought a duel.Every one stopped their individual fight and saw the duel.Kumbhakarna lounged at Raama with a huge tree.But Raama relased Aindraasthram and cut off another arm of Kumbhakarna.That arm revolved while falling down and it too killd many vaanaraas.Trees broke down and mountains got powdered by its weight.Still Kumbhakarna was coming towards Raama.Sree Raama thn released two half moon shaped arrows and they cut off both his fee.Even then,Kumbhakarna opened his mouth wide and came towards Raama by prostrating and tumbling his huge body.Raama released arrows into his mouth.Then only his mouth closed.Kumbhakarna could not talk and he fainted.Then Raama took another powerful celestial arrow and cuat off his head.Entrance gates and outer walls broke down for the speed with whoch Kumbhakarnaas head fell on the ground.Crores of vaanaraas lost their lives underneath his body.It fell into the sea and killed many aquatic animals.Kumbhakarna died in this fashion.Raama was happy like Indra,when he killed Vruthraasura.

Kumbhakarnaas fight with Sugreeva

Kumbhakarna took his spear and lounged at Sugreeva.Both fought a fierce battle for some time.Sugreeva threw a mountain top at Kumbhakarna.Kumbhakarna threw the spear at Sugreeva.Hanumantha caught it in the middle and broke it into two pieces.Kumbhakarna lost his temper and tugged at a hill top and hurled it at Sugreeva.Sugreeva fainted on being hit by that boulder.Kumbhakarna caught hold of Sugreeva and started taking him into the city of Lanka.Seeing this turn of events,vaanaraas were afraid and ran in all directions.Hanumantha observed all this.He thought of what he should in such a situation.If he killed Kumbhakarna and saved their king every one would be happy.But,again he thought like this.Sugreeva is a great warrior.He would definitely come out of this situation succesfully.Son he would gain consciousness and defeat Kumbhakarna.If I release him from Kumbhakarna,Sugreeva might feel bad and dfinitely it would tarnish his image as a great warrior.So,I would leave it to his decision.In the mean time,I would pacify and encourage the vaanara army to fight back the enemy. Kumbhakarna was proud of his victory and was walking along the roads of Lanka city,holding Sugreevaa.Civilians showered flowers at him.They sprayed scents and perfumes at him.There were trees on either side of the roads and cool breeze was touching their bodies.These had very much reviving effect on Sugreeva.He slowly started regaining his consciousness.He thought what he should do to Kumbhakarna which would make vaanaraas happy.He scrtached Kumbhakarnaas ears with his sharp nails and bit his nose and sides with his teeth.Kumbhakarna lost his ears and nose.kumbhakarnas body was filled with blood.In anger,Kumbhakarna threw him on to the ground.Demons thrashed him but Sugreeva did not mind them but flew into the sky and landed before Raamaas feet. Kumbhakarna came back into the war field from there itself.This time,he brought huge iron club with him instead of spear.He entered vaanara army and started eating vaanaraas as he was in acute hunger.Along with vaanaraas,he started eating demons also who came in his way because he was hungry.Vaanaraas ran to Raama for help.Kumbhakarna ,too,ran behind vaanaraas.Lakshmana got angry and released seven arrows at kumbhakarna at a time.But he did not care and went to fight with Raama.

Kumbhakarna thrashes vaanara warriors

Angada was trying to stop vaanaraas from fleeing.He addressed them.Hey vaanara warriors!where had you lost your valor?Why are you running away leaving your weapons?If you run away from the war field like timid fellows,would not your wives laugh at you?It would be worse than death!Everyone would make fun of you.Where are the words of bravery you told while leaving your houses?Discard the fear!Be valiant!It is always better to die as brave warriors than live long as waste fallows.If this Kumbhakarna comes before Raama,he can not live more than a second.Come back and fight like brave warriors.Do not shed the good name you have achieved as valiant warriors till now,by running away from the warfield. To these words of Angada,vaanaraas replied.We are fearing Kumbhakarna.We are unable to face him.If we stand here we would lose our lives.But Angada encouraged all of them and made them come back and start the war.All of them staked their lives and fought.There is no end to the lives of vaanaraas who were killed by Kumbhakarna.He started grabbing the vaanaraas with his hands and put them into his mouth and ate them.Dvividudu shot a breat boulder on to Kumbhakarna but it did not reach the goal but fell down in the miidle and killed enemys horses elephants and chariots. Hanumantha flew into the sky and rained rocks and boulders on Kumbhakarna.Kumbhakrna did not mind them but continued killing vaanaraas in great numbers.Hanumantha threw a mountain cilff on to Kumbhakarna.It hit him and blood oozed from his body and Kumbhakrna was troubled.He hit Hanumantha on his chest with his spear.Hanumantha trembled and spit blood and fainted.Vaanaraas saw this incident and ran away fear grabbing them.Neeludu encouraged vaanaraas and threw a boulder onto Kumbhakarna.Kumbhakarna hit the boulder with his fist and crumpled it into powder.Rushabhudu,Sarabhudu,Neeludu,Gavaakshdu and Gandhamaadanudu attacked him at a time.But Kumbhakarna crushed rushabhudu between his hands.Rushabhudu vomitted blood and fell down.He hit Sarabhdu with both his fists and hit him with his knees.Kumbhakarna slapped Gavaakshudu with his open and outstretched palm.He hit Gandhamaadanudu with his feet.Unable to withstand this,all of them fainted and fell to the ground.Thousands of vaanaraas climbed Kumbhakarna and bit him with their teeth and hit him with their feet and hands.Kumbhakarna dragged them and put them into his mouth and ate them.So many of the vaanaraas fell into his mouth and few came out through his nostrils and ears.Seeing them come out like this ,he broke them into pieces and munched them.Vaanaraas were disappearing fast into his mouth.Remaining few went to Raama and pleaded him to save them.Seeing such devastation,Angada hit him with a boulder,Kumbhakarna got angry and hit him with his spear.Angada escaped it and hit him hard on his chest.Kumbhakarna blinked his eyes and hit Angada with his left fist Angada fainted by its force.

Kumbhakarna goes to war

Kumbhakarna put on his armour,hugged his brother,saluted him,took his blessings and started to the war field.Civilians showered flowers on him.Kumbhakarna was hundred bows wide and six hundred bows tall.His eyes were like wheels of a cart.Over all,he looked like a big mountain.Kumbhakarna went to the war along with the army.He came across bad omens,but he did not care.He crossed the outer wall of the city easily and entered the war field.Vaanaraas ran hither and thither seeing Kumbhakarna.Angada tried to stop great warriors like Naludu,Neeludu,Gavaakshudu,Kumudud and other warriors from running away.Angada addressed them.Hey warriors!why are you running away forgetting your dynasty,like common people?Where are you going?This is not a demon.This is just a robot created to frighten us.Are you running away just by seeing a toy?Turn back.fight and destroy this robot.With great difficulty,vaanaraas returned and started fighting with boulders and trees and attacked Kumbhakarna.But those crumbled to pieces as soon as they Kumbhakarnas body.He was not affected at all adversely by these attacks.He is killing all the vaanaraas.Vaanaraas are running away from him.Some vaanaraas fell into the sea.Bears got up and settled on the tree tops.No vaanara remained on the field.

Kumbhakarna admonishes Mahodara

Kumbhakarna got angry with Mahodaraas words.He accused him of cheap tactics.Mahodara!stop talking nonsense.Never talk such rubbish in future.Be careful!Raavana took advice of fools like you and landed in deep trouble.All the fools congregated at this place and talked useless words and gave worthless suggestions.The result is that no demon is alive in Lanka except our king.Because of your foolish ideas,our finances have gone down.We have lost our strength and became weak. Kumbhakarna turned towards his elder brother and told him to be calm and composed.He would kill their enemy for sure and return victorious from the battle ground. Raavana laughingly replied his brother that Mahodara was afraid of Raama..That was the reason why he is harping on the topic of stopping the war.You go and kill our enemy.Take your spear along with you.By seeing your stature only Raama and Lakshmana would shiver in their pants.Kumbhakarna told that he would go alone and kill the enemy.But Raavana advised him against it.Hey brother!it is not right to go alone.Take the army along with you.Ravana ordered diamond studded chains,rings and other ornaments and decorated his brother.He applied sandalwood paste to his body,fixed ear rings and hip chain.Kumbhakarnaas hip chain resembled Vaasuki,huge snake which was used to churn the paalasamudram tied to Mandhara parvatham to bring out elixir.

Mahodara suggests short cut methods to Raavana

Mahodara continued blaming Kumbhakarna for hs rash words.You claimed that you alone would kill the entire enemy army.There is no truth in those words.Do you know how many of demons died in Raamaas hands on our own territory?You can never kill Raama.It is just your way of boasting. Mahodara turned towards Ravana and suggested mean ways to win over Seetha.Hey lord!you brought Seetha to Lanka because you desire her very much.I will suggest you one way to trick her into accepting you.If you like my suggestion,you can put into action.Tell all the civilians and the army that myself,Dvijuhvudu,Samhaadri,Kumbhakarnudu and Vithardhanudu are going to the war field to kill Raama.We will go and fight with Raama.If we win every thing will be okay.If we do not win,we would injure ourselves with arrows with Raamaas name on them and come to you bleeding.We will declare that we have killed Raama and salute you and touch your feet.Give us costly gifts and spread the news in the city that we have killed Raama.Give donations and gifts to civilians on the happy occasion.Give away scents perfumes and wine to the soldiers.You too drink costly wine and be happy.As soon as the news that Raama and Lakshmana are dead spreads in the entire city,go to Seetha.You give her gifts,talk to her nicely and make her yours completely.Because she understands that her husband is no more,she would easily fall for your charms and become your lady. Het lord!I thought seriously and found out this plan.You follow as per my advice.Without the need for war itself,you can win over Raama and Lakshmana.If you are seen by Raama,you will be cornered into trouble.There is no use for by battling with vaanaraas.

Raavana angry with Kumbhakarnas advice

Raavana was angry with Kumbhakarnaas advice.He addressed him.Kumbhakarna!you are not taking into consideration that I am your elder brother.You are talking as you wish.You are forgetting that i am your elder brother and starting to punish me like a teacher.What is the use with these useless words of advice?Knowingly or unknowingly I did a mistake.It is over.What is the use of instigating and pointing out at me so many times?Thing once done can not be retrieved back.An intelligent man never weeps over spilled milk.If you like me and love me,please help me to the maximum extent.Real relative is one who helps you in times of need and when you are in problems. Kumbhakrna receded and talking in smooth voice.Hey lord!do not worry and be happy.As long as I am alive,you can be relieved.I will start now itself and kill Raama for sure.I will behead him and bring his head and keep it before you.Forget your fear about Raama.He can not do anything as long as I am here.Give me permission to go to war.No one can fight with me and go home alive.I will put an end to Raama,Lakshmana,Sugreeva,Hanumantha and the entire vaanara army.All these three worlds are not enough for my food.Who can fight with me and still survive?Do not grieve.Eat good food,drink costly wines and be happy.I will kill Raama and come back.Later,Seetha would all be yours.Mahodarudu heard harsh words of Kumbhakarna and scolded him to be in books of Raavana. Mahodara said these words.Kumbhakarna!You are born in a great dynasty but your intelligence is very poor.You are speaking as if our king does not know what is right and what is wrong,but you alone know discretion.Our king is a great scholar.He is not a fool like you.You told him that he was suffering the fruits of his sinful deeds.In this world there are no proper rules as to what is right and what is wrong.In this world,wrong deeds reap good results,Righteousness may let you go to heaven.But in this world,if you want to enjoy life,lust is the only way.So,there is nothing wrong in what our king did.

Kumbhakarnas dialogue with Raavana

Kumbhakarna was still drowsy.Hewas not walking straight on the roads.Civilians were showering flowers on him from their roof ts.Kumbhakarna reached Raavanaas palace and saw him sitting sadly on his throne.Raavana was happy seeing his brother and got up to welcome him.Kumbhakarna saluted his brother and touched his feet.He enquired his brother.Hey brother!Did you have work with me?Why did you wake me up?Raavana hugged his brother and made his brother sit on a throne.He started explaining his brother,Kumbhakarna.Kumbhakarna!You were happily sleeping and were not aware of the problem that faced me by Raama.Raama crossed the sea along with his army and destrying Lanka and its civilians.Many of our warriors died in their hands.But we did not hear even a single man from the enemy camp died.The burden of saving Lanka is on your shoulders.Kumbhakarna!our financial position has detereorated.Important warriors from our side were killed.Only choldren and aged people are alive and remaining in the city of Lanka.You have to save from this situation at any cost.Hey brother! i have much respect for you.You have to help your elder brother.There is no one like you strong enough in this world.Kill my enemy and bring peace to me. Kumbhakarna laughed and said whaever he feared has happened.I told you then itself this would happen.But you did not pay heed to my words.Now you are suffering with fruits of your sins.You did not consult us while doing or before indulging in sinful acts.You did neither think properly nor took our advice.Now those sins are suffocating you.Before doing anything,one has to think well,dicuss with frinds and well wishers and ministers at the appropriate time.Only such person will succeed in life.If one does not do so,his entire knowledge is an utter waste.If a king is not intelligent,his ministers would take undue advantage and give wrong advices according to their hims and fancy.They would spoil the entire mission.They project wrong decisions as if they are being said in your best interest.We should allow such ministers in important discussions.That day ,Vibheeshana gave you right advice.Even today that is the best advice.It would be better if you act according to that suggestion.Other wise,it is your wish.

Kumbhakarnaas curse

Raavana ordere his servants to bring him with all due respect.Demons went to Kumbhakarna and told him that the king wanted to meet him.Kumbhakarna got up from his bed,washed his face,bathed and decorated himslef with ornaments and garlands.He drank two thousand pots of alcohol and started to meet his brother.Earth trembled with the force of his walking.Civilians saluted him.Vaanaraas saw him from out side Lanka.They were afraid seeing the huge body of Kumbhakarna.They ran in all directions.Some came to Raama for security.Sree Raama was also astonished seeing that huge creature.He enquired Vibheeshana as to who he was.Vibheeshana!who is this mountain like creature.He is like a huge cluster of clouds imbedded by lightning here and there.I never saw such a huge demon earlier in my life.See,how vaanaraas are running away from him! Vibheeshana replied him in detail.Hey lord!He is called Kumbhakarna.Deities and demons were equally affected by Kumbhakarna.They shivered in their boots,when Kumbhakarna attacked them with his spear.Other demons secured more power because of the boon he got.Originally Kumbhakarna has huge strength.As soon as he was born,he ate many living beings due to severe hunger.People went to Indra and sought his assistance.Indra,then attacked him with his Vajraayudham.Kumbhakarna was affected for a very little time by that Vajraayudham but regained immediately and roared like a lion.He then tore the tusk of Indras elephant,Airaavatham and hit him on his chest.Deities,sages and civilians were saddened and went to Brahma for rescue.We are unable to bear the atrocities of Kumbhakarna!He is eating away all the human beings.He is kidnapping married women from their husbands.If he continues in this manner,soon this would be devoid of human race.You have to make some way out from this catastrophe.Hearing Indraas pleas,Brahma called Kumbhakarna. even he was afraid looking at him.He regained his confidence and cursed him.It seems that Poulasthyudu brought you into this world with the sole intention of destroying this world.So,from now on wards you would be sleeping like a log all the time.Raavana requested Brahma like this.Hey Brahma!Kumbhakarna is none other than your great grand son!Is it right on your part to curse him like this?You can not go back on your words.But fix a time span for his sleep.Brahma then granted him that Kumbhakarna would be awake one day for every six months of sleep. Raavana was afraid of your valor and woke Kumbhakarna from his deep sleep.All vaanaraas and afraid and running away from him.Then how can they fight him?We have to say that he is not a demon but a machine which has been lifted up.So,you need not be afraid!Raama called Neeludu and directed him to restrain the armies from running away. he has to see that armies should surround all the four gates of the city.Make ready boulders and trees sufficient to sustain the entire war period.

Kumbhakarna

Demons took perfumes,scents,garlands,special food items and went into Kumbhakarnaas chamber.The entrance gate was one and half yojanaas wide and high.Kumbhakarna was happily sleeping.Demons tried to go near him but his inhalation and exhalation made them fall back.With utmost difficulty,they could reach him.They put heaps of rice,pots full of blood and wine near him and started waking him up.They applied sandalwood paste on his body and put garlands .They burnt scented sticks to waken him up.They roared like thunder struck clouds.They blew conches and made sounds with trumpets.Kumbhakarna did not kove even an inch.They hit him with iron clubs.They hit him with huge trees.They hit him with fists.Entire Lanka city resounded with the noise they made,but Kumbhakarna did not wake up.Demons dragged his hair.They poured water in to his ears.They blasted rockets.They were of no use.They made thousand elephants walk over him.Kumbhakarna felt something was creeping on hs body.he moved a little.To wake him up completely they beat him with sharp bouldres and big trees.kumbhakarna did not mind those beatings and thrashings.He woke up hungry and yawned.He drank blod and wine which was brought to him in huge pots.They realised that he was satisfied with the food.Then ,they stood before him.He saw hem and wondered why they were surrounding him.He was angry with them.Why did you wake me from my deep sleep?Is our king safe?Is he in any danger?There must really be grave reason for waking me up.Tell me the actual facts.I ould make him happy and forget his fears.I would punish Indra.I would kill God of Fire. Yoopaakshudu,Raavanaas minister,replied him.We are not facong any problem with deities.Entire fear is caused by a mere mortal.Lanka is surrounded by Vaanaraas.Raama got angry because His wife was kidnapped by Raavana.All this trouble is caused because of that only.Earlier,a vaanara came and destroyed entire Lanka.He even killed Akshakumar also.In the present war,many demon warriors have been killed.Even Raavana participated in war and survived and escaped narrowly.Raama has achieved it,which no one has achieved till now. Kumbhakarna replied in this manner.Yoopaakshudaa!I will go to battle field directly from here and kill Raama,Lakshmana and vaanara army.I will go to see Raavana only after that.I would drink blood of Raama and Lakshmana and then only see our king.Mahodarudu advised Kumbhakarna to first appear before Raavana,take his advice and then only go to war field.Kumbhakarna agreed to Mahodaras advice.Demons informed Raavana that Kumbhakarna was arriving to meet him.

Raavanaas war with Raama

Raavana got up from the ground after fainting for some time.He took his bow and was ready to war.Vaanara army was frightened and ran afar .Sree Raama started to go to fight with Raavana.Hanumantha told him to sit on his shoulder and fight with Raavana.It would then resemble as if Vishnu alighted on Garuthmantha.Sree Raama sat on Hanumanthaas back.Raama fine tuned his bow and called Raavana.hey Raavana!stop ther!After doing so much damage to me,you can not escape from my arrows so easily.I killed fourteen thousand demons on your home land with my arrows.Remember that fact.Raavana got angry with these words and he hurt Hanumantha by releasing arrows on him.Hanumanthas aura increased instead of deteriorating even after he was attacked by Raavana.Raama lost his temper and broke Raavanaas chariot wheels,horses,flag post,umbrella and charioteer.He released thunder bolt like arrows on to Raavanaas chest.Raavana. Who did not waver even when thunder struck him,Indraas vajraayudham struck him,wavered and let his bow fall to the ground.Raama released half moon shaped arrow and broke Raavanaas crown.Raavana looked like a serpent devoid of poison,fire without flames,sun without light,and immobile body.Seeing Raavana in such a pitiable condition,Raama addressed him. Raavana!you killed many warriors.Now you are tired and wounded.So,I am not killing you now and sending you to hell.I am giving you permission.Go back to your city,take ample rest,alight a new chariot and possess new bow and arrows and come back to war afterwards.Then I would attack you with my arrows. now you can leave the battle field.Who else can relieve the enemy without killing,except Raama?Raavana was ashamed to hear these words of Raama.He silently went into the city.It would have been better if Raama had killed Raavana instead of showing mercy on him.Deities and sages applauded the way Raavana was belittled in Raamaas hands.Raavanaas pride took low level.He was afraid of Raamaas arrows.He remembered the words of Maareecha.Raavana reclined on his throne and vent his desolation with his colleagues. All my penance as one waste.I was ashamed in the hands of a mere mortal.Brahma told then itself that I would be afraid of humans.It was a very wrong mistake on my part not to ask protection from human beings too.Anaranyudu,grand father of Thrisankudu from Ikshvaaku dynasty cursed me that a man from his dynasty was sure to kill him and his relatives and sons one day.May be Raama is that man only.May be Seetha is none other than Vedavathi,who was abused by me earlier.Whatever curses were given by Umaadevi,Rambha,Nandeeswarudu and Varunakanyaka arebeing materialised now.So many sages have cursed me.Their words would never go wrong.hey demons!be alert and be active in protecting Lanka.Think of ways to put an end to the enemy.Wake up my brother,Kumbhakarna,who belittled deities and demons.It was nine days sincKumbhakarna fell asleep.Wake him up.If a person can not help me in times of need,what use is it even he is great fighter?So,wake him and bring him to me.He would kill Raama and Lakshmana in a second.

Raavana fights with Lakshmana

Lakshmana stopped Raavana and instigated him.Raavana!why are you fighting with these vaanaraas?If you have power,fight with me.Raavana gave him back in his own coin.I can kill you in this same second!I am lucky.That is why you are standing just before me.Raavana released seven arrows on Lakshmana but Lakshmana broke them and rained arrows on Raavana.Raavana also attacked him with powerful arrows and Lakshmana trembled with their effect.His bow slipped from his hands.But immediately he revived and broke Raavanaas bow and rained arrows on Raavana again.Raavanaas body was full of bleeding from wounds.Raavana fainted but again regained consciousness.He released powerful arrow,Sakthi,which God Brahma ,gave him.Lakshmana released an arrow to break that Sakthi but failed.It hit him in the chest and Lakshmana fainted.Raavana immdiately came and tried to lift Lakshmana but could not lift him.It might have been easy to lift Mandara parvatham or Himalayan mountains but not Lakshmana,from the battle ground.As soon as the powerful arrow hit him,Lakshmana remembered that he was an ansh ie part of Vishnu.As he was another form of incarnation of Vishnu,Raavana could not lift him.Hanumantha became ferocious and lounged at Raavana.He him Raavana on his chest with his fist.Raavana succumbed to its force and fell on the ground and became unconscious.Deities and sages felt happy seeing Raavana lying in his chariot and fainting.Hanumantha immediately lifted Lakshmana and brought him to Raama.As hanumantha was a well wisher and disciple of Raama and Lakshmana,Lakshmana was lighter and could be lifted .Sakthi left Lakshmanaas body and went back to its original position at Raavanaas chariot.Lakshmana regained consciousness and remembered that he was another form of lord Vishnu.

Hanumantha and Neeludu attack Raavana

Raavana addressed hs warriors like this.If all of you are here,our city would be vacant.If vaanaraas learn about it,they would enter the city in large groups and make a havic.So,all of you go back and protect all the four gates of the city.Indrajith and other warriors returned back with their armies.Raavana killed many vaanaraas.Sugreeva threw a big boulder at Raavana.Raavana broke that boulder into powder with his arrow.He,then ,attacked him with a powerful arrow.It hit Sugreevaas body.Sgreeva fainted by its effect.Gavaakshd,Gavayudu and other vaanara warriors ttacked Raavana with huge rcks.Raavana crumpled all those rocks with h arrows.He attacked vaanaraas and all of them fell to the ground.Vaanara armies ,then came to Raama for help.Sree Raama took his bow yo attack him.But Lakshmana immediately requested Raama that he be given chance to prove himself. Raama encouraged Lakshmana to show his might but to be very careful ad Raavana was a great warrior.Aavana was an efficient warrior and brave person.If he loses temper,no one can fight him back among the entire three worlds.So,be alert,fond out his weaknesses and cover your weaknesses effectively.Do not even close your eyelids even for a second.Keep your eyes open all the time and use your bow and arrows effectively and protect yourslf simultaneously. Lakshmana saluted his brother and entered the war field.In the mean time,Hanumantha attacked Raavana and destroyed his chariot.He lifted his right hand and talked to Raavana in bold manner.Raavana!it seems you are proud that you have defeated the deities.But you are sure to be defeated by vaanaraas.See my right hand!It is sure to deprive you of your life.Raavana encouraged Hanumantha to attack him and he would assess his bravery.Then he would kill Hanumantha.Hanumantha then reminded him how Raavanaas son,Akshudu. Got killed in his hands.Raavana got angry and hit him on Hanumanthaas chest.Raavana hit him hard and Hanumantha stumbled for a second.He revived immediately and hit him back with his palm outstretched.Raavana,too,trembled with the force of the hit.Deities and sages felt happy seeing that incident.Vaanaraas roared with nthusiasm.Raavana too,praised Hanumantha on his attack.He felt he was an equal adversary in fight with him.Hanumantha felt he was a failure because Raavana was still alive even after being hit by hi .He is instigating Raavana to hit him again so that he could again hit back and send Raavana to Yamapuri ie hell. Raavana lost his temper and really hit Hanumantha hard.Hanumantha fainted with its force.By the time Hanumantha revived,Raavana moved over and attacked Neeludu.Neeludu took a mountain topand threw it at Raavanaas face.Hanumantha saw Raavana fighting with Neeludu and left him at that without attacking him again.Raavana stopped that mountain cliff from hurting him.Neeludu attacked him with big trees but Raavana efficiently contained him.Neeludu dimished his form and stood on the flag post of Raavana.Hanumantha ,Raama and Lakshmana were astonished seeing Neeludu show his powers and efficiency.Neeludu then lept on to Raavanaas crown and then on to his bow.Raavana addressed the great vaanara that it seems he knew many tactics.So he would attack him by releasing Aagneyaasthram.If Neeludu had power,he could protect hi self.Neeludu fainted and fell to the ground with the effect of Aagneyaasthram.Because he was the son of God of fire,no great damage was done.He was not killed.Raavana moved on to attack Lakshmana.

Raavana goes to war

Raavana repented death of Prahasthudu.Along with sorrow,he got angry with the developments.He addressed the demons.Alas!Prahastha,who defeated even Indra,died in this war.We should not underestimate these vaanaraas. We should step up our actions.We should not delay things.I,myself,would go to the war field.I would burn away Raama,Lakshmana and vaanara army with my arrows.Raavana alighted his chariot and started to go to the war field.Demons roared and blew conches and sounded trumpets.He went to the battle field along with his demon warriors.He looked like Rudra,surrounded by ghosts.Sree Raama was surprised seeing Raavana and his vast army.He enquired Vibheeshana as to whom the army belonged and who the warriors were. Vibheeshana explained him.The demon coming on the elephant is Akampanudu,son of Raavana.The person holding rainbow like bow and coming on the chariot with emblem of lion on its flag is Indrajith.Another huge bodied demon coming on the chariot and making resounding noissth his bow is Athikaayudu.The person roaring like alion and sitting on the elephant is Mahodarudu.The one coming on the horse is Pisaachudu.Person coming on the buffalo and holding a spear is Thrisirudu.Person,who has emblem of snake on his flag is Kumbhudu.Demon,who is carrying a spear which is adorned with gold and diamonds ,is Nikumbhudu.He is very crucial person to the entire army.He did many great tasks earlier.Demon,who is shining like fire,and carrying bow and arrows and nisithakhadgam,is Naraanthakudu.The one,who is coming in a chariot with white umbrella,and shining with crown and ear rings,is Raavana.He is a great warrior,who defeated deities many a time.He is Lankeswarudu,ruler of all demons. Raama was dumb struck withRaavanaas magnanimity.He was astonished to find Raavana with so much aura,like a bright sun.Raama felt like this.Let it be.I am able to see him clearly.I will show all my anger on him now.Raama took his bow,saying these words.Lakshmana stood near his brother.

Prahasthudu killed by Neeludu

Vaanara army roared seeing demon army.Sree Raama ondered seeing Prahasthaas army.He smiled and enquired Vibheeshana about Prahastha.He felt that Prahastha might be a great warrior.Vobheeshana replied him that Prahasthud was army chief of Raavana.One third of Raavanaas army was in his grip and cntrol.He was abrave warrior.He knew how to use the various types of weapons efficiently.He brought his entire wing of army along with him.Fierce war ensued between vaanaraas and demons.Warield was filled with roaring and wailing.Heads were rolling on the ground.Blood was flowing in rovulets.Wherever yoy see,there were broken chariots,dead bodies of elephants and horses.Dvividudu,Durmukhudu,Jaambavanthudu,Thaarudu killed four ministers of Prahasthudu.Prahasthudu took his bow and released many arrows at them.Vaanaraas were dying in large numbers.Then,Neeludu,army chief of Vaanaraas lounged at Prahasthudu.Prahasthudu released arrows at Neeludu also.Neeludu bore those arrows with patience.Neeludu took out a big saala tree and killed Horses of Prahasthaas chariot and broke hs chariot.He broke his bow also.Prahasthudu got down from his chariot,took a musalamu,big club or a thick wooden log,and attacked Neeludu.Fierce fight ensued between them.Neeludu threw a big boulder at Prahasthas head and broke his head into many pieces.Prahasthudu died.Remaining demon army ran into the city.They wept and stood silently before Raavana.Every one in the vaanara army praised Neeludu.

Hanumantha kills Akampanudu

After the demise of Vajradanshtra,Raavana sent Akampanudu to the war.Akampana started with his enemy but he came across many bad omens.He dis not care for them but proceded to the war field.Kumudud,Naludu,Maindudu and Dvividudu attacked the demon armies.Akampana killed many vaanaraas.Hanumantha saw the plight of Vaanaraas and killed many demons.Akampana and Hanumantha had a dyel.They fought for a long time.Hanumantha finally attacked him with a huge tree and killed him.Remaning demon army ran into the city.Deities,Raama,Lakshmana,Sugreeva,Vibheeshana and other vaanara warriors praised Hanumantha on his achievement that day.Raavana was very unhappy hearing the sad news of death of Akampanudu.He surveyed the city and his army the next day morning.Vaanara armies surrounded the entire city fom all the sides.Raavana called Prahasthudu and started telling him.Prahastha!enemy armies have attacked our city from all the sides.I am unable to find an efficient person who can solve the problem now.Either you,me,Kumbhakarna,Indrajitor Nikumbhudu should take up the responsibility.So,you take the armies and go to the war field.If we fight there is a chance to win.But if we do not fight,enemies would definitely kill us.So,it is better to fight back.Prahastha!what is your opinion in this matter? Prahasthudu replied to this question of Raavana in detail.Hey lord!this issue has come for discussion earlier.There was difference of opinion among the ministers regarding this issue.Then itself I told you that it would be better to hand over Seetha to Raama in the best interest of the king and kingdom.We knew that there would definitely be war if we do not hand over Seetha to Raama.Earlier I have been benefitted by you many a time.So,I will never back out from helping you in times of need.I am ready to sacrifice my wife,children and my life,my wealth and go to war for your sake. Demons did homam and satisfied god of Fire.They prayed Brahmins.Air was carryin the scent of flowers and ghee.Wishing victory,demons wore garlands.taking Raavanaas permission,Prahasthudu started for the war field making sounds with trumpets and conches.Ministers of Prahasthudu,Naraanthakudu,Kumbhahanudu,Mahaanaadudu and Samunnathudu followed him.Army of Prahastha was vast like sea.He too came across bad omens.Eaglesat on the flag post.whip of the charioteer slipped from his hands,though he was very efficient.Horses of the chariot slipped and fell.Prahasthudu felt guilty and lost his composure with these incidents.But he did not turn back but proceded to the war field.

Raavana loses his cool

Raavana heard the happy shouts of vaanaraas.He could not understand the reason behind their happiness.He started talking to his ministers about the latest developments.Hey ministers!Raama and Lakshmana are bound by Naagapaasam.Vaanaraas are roaring with happiness.Actually it is time for them to be morose.But then,why are they happy?I am unable to understandwhat might have happened there.Go fast and learn what is happening there.Demonsclimbed the outer wall of the city and looked at the vaanaraas.They saw Raama and Lakshmana free of Naagapaasam and in happy state of mind.As soon as they saw the brothers,they were afraid and ran to Raavana to disclose the actual fact.Raavanaas face became pale as soon as he heard the news of well being of Raama and Lakshmana.Raavana exclaimed.Aha!Did Raama free himself of Naagapaasam?what more is there?Again our armies are in the grip of death from Raama!He directed Dhoomraakshudu to go with his army and kill the vaanaraas and Raama.Dhoomraakshudu alighted his chariot and came out from Western gate along with his army.Bad omens appeared.Owl sat on the flag post of the chariot.Dhoomraaksha was sad but did not turn back.Hanumantha was waiting at the western gate.Heavy fight ensued between demons and vaanara warriors.Demons used their weapons.Vaanaraas used their teeth and nails.They brought trees,boulders and mountain blocks to kill demons.Demons died in large numbers and those who were alive ran away from the war field.Dhoomraaksha got angry and killed many vaanaraas.Hanumantha got angry and threw a great boulder on to Dhoomraaksha.Dhoomraaksha attacked with his gada ie mace.Hanumantha dropped a huge mountain block on Dhoomraakshas head and the demon died.Remaining demons ran into the city.Vaanaraas praised Hanumantha on his bravery. Raavana hissed like a snake hearing about Dhoomraakshaas death.He sent Vajradanshtra to the war.Vajradanshtra came out through southern gate.Angada was waiting for him there.Both had a fierce fight.Angada killed many demons.Vajradanshtra killed many vaanaraas.Both had a duel.Vajradanshtra attacked Angada with mace and Angada fought with huge boulders.Angada hit Vajradanshtra on his head with a mountain tip and killed him with a sword which was lying there.Vaanara army celebrated the victory of Angada.
