Lakshmana meets Ayomukhi

Rama and Lakshmana crossed Dandakaaranya .searching Seetha all the way.They came to krounchaaranyam forest on their way.Then ,turning east wards,they walked for some more distance and came nearer to Mathangaasramam.It was a dense forest.One fears to walk through it.There ,they came across a cave. It was very dark inside.Near that cave,a grotesque demon was sitting. To look at her was in itself fear rising.Lakshmana was walking in the front. Suddenly,she saw Lakshmana and hugged him.She started blabbering to Lakshmana.Nadha!My name is Ayomukhi. I like you.We would stay here and lead a happy and enjoyable life roaming in the woods and near by lakes. But one knows what Lakshmana does to Demons. He took his sword and cut her nose and ears.She ran away crying with pain . Again Rama and Lakshmana started walking in the woods.Lakshmana turned towards Rama and told him.Rama!my left shoulder is shivering. I am concerned.I am seeing bad omens all around. I feel that war is going to happen in no time.Be prepared for war. take your bow and arrows and be alert.Cries of Vanchulaka pakshi is boding victory for us.

Rama performs last rites to Jataayuvu

Rama told Lakshmana with sorrow.Lakshmana!see!this king of Eagles tried to help me but lost his life in the process.He left his kingdom and lost his life for my cause.Sages and righteous people valiant people are found even in wild animals and birds to me.Jataayuvu dedicated his life to me.The sorrow I am feeling for the loss of Jataayuvu is more than I am feeling for the loss of Seetha.Jataayuvu is to be respected like father by us. Lakshmana!bring wood and prepare for the last rites of Jataayuvu.We would create fire by friction and we would burn his dead body to ashes.He ,the,turned towards the dead body of Jataayuvu and told these words. Jataayuvu!I give you permission. Your last rites would be fulfilled by me.You would go to heaven which could be achieved by great ahithaagnulu,great sages,and to those who donate land to the poor. Saying this,Rama performed Last rites properly and with devotion. He crumbled with desperation.He brought an animal and killed it. He performed pinda pradaanam .He recited Vedamanthras and sent Jataayuvu to heaven.Then,Rama and Lakshmana went to river,Godavari and bathed there and performed jala tharpanam to Jataayuvu. Jataayuvu was a great soul,who fought and lost his life in war. He earned accolades by his superior act.He was lucky to have his last rites performed by Rama and went to Heaven.

Rama and Lakshmana come across Jataayuvu

Rama started walking accompanied by Lakshmana.Searching in the woods,they cameto the place where Jataayuvu was lying on the ground.Jataayuvus huge body was filled with blood smears.As soon as Rama saw him,He called Lakshmana and rold him.Lakshmana!this person would have eaten my Seetha.This demon might have come in the guise of an eagle. I will immediately kill him.Saying so,Rama took his bow and arrows and approached Jataayuvu.Jataayuvu was in the last phase of his life. He addressed Rama in an imploring manner. Rama! the person you are searching is taken away by Ravana.He has taken away my life too.I observed that he was taking away Seetha in your absence.I stalled and fought with him.I broke his chariot.I broke his bow. I trampled his body shield.I killed his charioteer.See there. All are lying down there only.Ravana clipped my wings.He took Seetha by air.That demon has already killed me. Do not kill me again. Seeing the pathetic way,Jataayuvu was lying,Ramas sorrow knew no bounds.he wept very much.He kept away bow and arrows and wept. Lakshmana also felt sorry and was down with sorrow and unhappiness.Rama addressed Lakshmana. Lakshmana!WHAT ARE THESE HARDSHIPS? I have no luck at all.I am ill fated.I lost my kingdom.I came to the woods. I lost Seetha. Now,Jataayuvu is about to die.My ill fate will ignite even the fire.If I touch the ocean with my feet,it would dry up.I am tangled in web of ill fate and curse.Because of my ill fate only,now Jataayuvu is dying. Weeping like this,He hugged Jataayuvu, his fathers friend.He asked Jataayuvu.Jataayu!if you have the strength,please give us information about Seetha and Ravana.Where does he live/How is he? Jataayuvu told that the demon created black clouds and darkness.He took away Seetha with him by air.He cut my wings and took her south wards. Rama!my head is reeling. I am unable to fix my eyes on you.I am unable to breath.The moment when Ravana took away Seetha is Vinda muhurtham. That is a good time.object or thing lost in that muhurtham is bound to come back to the owner.So,do not be dejected. You will get back Seetha.You will definitely kill that demon,Ravana. You will bring back Seetha and live with her happily. Ravana is the son of Visravasudu.Kubera is his brother. Rama was hearing the words of Jataayuvu ,but they stopped abruptly.Jataatuvu died. Rama and Lakshmana wept for his loss.

Lakshmana makes Rama sea reason and reality

Lakshmana then saluted Rama with respect and reverence.He told him reason in these words. Rama!you are always a well wisher of pancha bhoothas...the five elements which this universe is made of.Why this anger now?If some dirty fellow does some mistake,is it proper to destroy the entire universe?Let us be practical.Let us find find out who is the owner of this chariot and arrows.It is not definite who broke this chariot and this bow.It is evident that a great war occured here.It seems to be mostly one sided.indications regarding army is not visible.Kings should punish the wronged ones. They should not kill them. Rama!you always protect the entire life on this earth. no one would say that what you are going through and what you lost is negligible.We will find out the demon who snatched Seetha and punish him.We would make a thorough search in the oceans,on the mountains,in the caves and even in swargam ie heaven.If we can not bring her back by respectable and decent means ,we would definitely use our arrows. Rama!Dasaradha did great penance and got you as his son.He loved you for your good character and good traits.He died because you left him for the words.Because of Gods intervention,now you are facing difficulties.If a great man ,like you can not withstand this,can ordinary people bear it? It is natural for human beings to suffer and pass through difficulties.Do you not know the fate of Yayaathi,even while in heaven?Great sage like Vasishta,also lost his hundred sons in just one day.Even this earth trembles at the time earth quakes.Even Sun and moon undergo eclipse.Even the deities can not forestall the act of God.Even Indra suffers from hardships too many a time. Even if Seetha is confiscated or killed,you should not repent like a common man.Great and wise people like you do not pine in times of difficulties.Be rational and find out the truth.Good and bad ,we receive in this world is the fruits of our behavour in our previous life.We can not know for sure,what is going to happen in the next minute.You taught me this truth so many times in the past.Is there anyone on this earth,who can tell you what is right and what is wrong? Rama!you are a wise man.There is nothing you do not know.Just because you are in sorrow,your wisdom has left you.I am just making you recollect things. Never think I am either preaching you or teaching you. Show your valor to your enemy.Why do you destroy the world?You find out the person who harmed you or made you suffer.Kill him! Rama accepted Lakshmanas words and put down his bow and arrows. Slowly he asked Lakshmana to tell him how they should go about searching Seetha. Lakshmana told him that first they should search in the near by places. They would make thorough search among caves, mountains,and in the forests.Be confident.People likeyou should be brave enough to face the hardships.

Rama decides to destroy the entire world

Rama is in acute agony for the loss of his wife. He is still talking to Lakshmana .Lakshmana!see this umbrella!It is shining with thousand diamonds.Donkeys which drag the chariot are dead.Chariot is destroyed beyond repair.Flag mast is crushed to the ground.See!how many arrows are on the ground!Even the charioteer is lying on the ground ,dead.See here!two more demons are dead !It seems are the assistants of the main demon.Are you seeing in this corner?Demons foot prints are visible.My anger towards demons has increased hundred fold now.Demons would either have captured her or killed and eaten her.Aah!even righteousness could not protect and safe guard Seetha!If Seetha is not there,there is no other soul in this entire world,who can make me happy! Lakshmana!there is no word like kindness in this world any more.Even if the valiant creator of these worlds is kind hearted,people would refuse to recognise his valor. they would ill treat and humiliate him.Just because I am kind hearted towards each and very one,even deities are under the impression that I do not have any valor left in me. Lakshmana!even the good traits have become liabilities ,being with me.Now is the time for me to show my valor. Early morning sun depletes moonlight. Similarly I would show off my valor and lessen my good qualities.This very moment,I am going to destroy the entire demons,and all the pancha bhoothaas.I would cover the entire sky with my arrows.I would make sure that no one can move about freely in all the three worlds.I would stop the movement of all the planets.I would definitely nullify fire,air and water on this planet.I would crush mountains into fine powder.I will dry out the oceans.I would decompose all the three worlds.If they do not bring back my Seetha in good shape,I would show my valor,right at this minute.For the sake of Seetha,I would see that there are no more demons remaining on this earth.I want Seetha,as she is always. Other wise,I would destroy the entire universe. Saying this he took his Bow and arrow and commented like this. Lakshmana!I am starting my use of these arrows and bow this very minute.No one can stop me now.I want Seetha back as she has been till now.Otherwise,I would topple this entire world.

Rama observes Seethas foot prints

Rama and Lakshmana started southwards.They were walking with their heads bowed down. Rama observed some flowers on the ground.He recognised them at once.He turned towards Lakshmana and told him.Lakshmana!these flowers are definitely Seetha sflowers.I only brought them and gave them to her to adorn in her head.Dont you see? it is a wonder!Sun god,earth,and god of air,Vaayudeva have been protecting these flowers since then from wilting and drying.They wanted to help me in my quest for Seetha.He relaxed a little bit. He turned towards Prasravana mountain and made enquiries .O mountain king!Did you see any beautiful woman who was worrying and tensed up in my absence?His words reverberated and appeared as though the mountain was asking Rama that question.He asked again. O mountain!please show me my Seetha.Otherwise,I would destroy you and your riches.Mountain kept quiet.Rama lost his temper and threatened it that he would burn the mountain to ashes with his arrows. Rama, then,turned towards Lakshmana and told him that if the river did not answer him in the affirmative,he would definitely dry it.Just the, Rama saw something on the ground.He saw some demons large foot prints.He also observed Seethas footprints ,which showed that she was running hither and thither.Bow was found broken.Number of arrows were scattered on the ground.Chariot was found broken and lying on the ground. Rama turned towards Lakshmana and showed them to him.he also told this.Lakshmana!See!Gold powder from the ornaments of Seetha has fallen here.See these garlands.Blood smears are seen all over the ground.Lakshmana!did the demons kill Seetha and eat her.It seems two demons have fought for Seethas body.Who would have owned this bow which is broken and is lying on the ground?See this body shield.It is studded with diamonds,rubies and other precious stones. It is shining like Morning sun.

Rama and Lakshmana enquire rivers,mountains,animals and birds

Lakshmana tried to bring confidence to Rama. Rama!what is the use of repenting?leave your sorrow!regain confidence!We will search for Seetha without any type of negligence.Enthusiastic people never lose theri confidence inspite of many hardships. Dont you know that? Rama could not control his grievance inspite of Lakshmanas soothing words.Rama started asking Lakshmana to go to GodavariRiver and see if Seetha had gone there for Lotus flowers.Lakshmana went there and asked the river if she had seen Seetha near its surroundings. there was no reply forthcoming from the river.Godavari river was afraid of the demon ,Ravana.So she maintained silence.Ravana was depressed with her silence and started weeping again. Again he called Lakshmana.Lakshmana!Godavari river is not kind towards me. I can not live without Seetha. I can not sleep peacefully.Lakshmana!did you observe? these animals are looking again and again.May be they want to tell me about Seetha.Hey !wild animals of the forest!Do you know ,where Seetha is ? All the wild animals stood up and turned their heads towards the sky and started running towards southern side.They started looking towards Rama and ran again implying the direction in which Seetha went. Lakshmana observed their moves.He told his elder brother the same thing. Hey Rama!all these animals are running in southern direction. so,it would be appropriate if we search Seetha in this direction.
