Sumanthras entry

Dasaratha was sure he was going to die with this sorrow.He told that with the provisions brought for ramas enthronement his last rites should be done.Vasishta saw to it that everything was arrangedfor the function and called Sumanthra to wake up the king.When Sumanthra called Dasaratha he could not reply. Then Kaikeyi told him to bring Rama as Dasaratha wanted to see him. Sumanthra went to Ramas palace to bring him to Dasaratha. Rama was ready and was sitting along with Seetha in a relaxed mood.Rama thought that Dasaratha and Kaikeyi wanted to greet him on that precious occassion. So he told Seetha to get ready for the function and went to Kaikeyis palace to visit Dasaratha.Laxmana also accompanied him.On the way civillians were praising him. But he did not waver. THat is why he is called Dheerodattudu.Who does not see Rama or who is not seen by Rama is a convict not only in the eyes of public but also in the eyes of same athma.Rama entered the building . Outside his friends and other civillians were waiting.

helplessness of Dasaratha

Dasaratha was lamenting that he had been taken for a ride. He had hugged death in the form of Kaikeyi.HEhad sold his son to buy wife.Rama was a plain heartd person. If Dasaratha told him to go woods, he would happily go without even questionig him.He would not refuse.Dasaratha would lose his life if Rama went to woods.If Bharatha accepted this proposal, he would not have right to perform last rites when he dies.

How can Rama eat those uncooke dvegetables and food.How could he eat bitter raw food?How can he wear rough cotton clothes,lie on the bare ground?One should not believe women.He started threatening her that if because of her Rama was in trouble, entire world would blame her.Even if she destroys herself, he would not hear her words.

The very next moment he started pleding her and cajolling her saying that she was avery goodlady ands not to corner him to do the awful act.Actually he fell on her feet. hedown as she took away her feet aside.Hestarted pleading with her that he would give her the kingdom but she in turn has to gift it to Rama. It would be good to one and all.

dasarathas plight

Kaikeyi threatened to take her life if her wish was not fulfilled. She did not even like take the name of Kousalya. She mentioned her as Ramas mother. Dasaratha was helpless. H efainted and got up after some time.H easked her as to who poisoned her mind.AS Bharatha was arighteous person he would not accept throne.If he did like that other kings would surely blame him.Because of her Dasaratha had done injustice to Kousalya in the past.Inspite of it, Kousalya always wished him well.She served him like a servant,she used to make him happy like a friend,as a wife, as a sister, and as a mother she would behave according to the situation.As he was afraid of Kaikeyis wrath, he could not do any justice to Kousalya in the past.Now if he sent Rama to the forest, what answer he could give to Kousalya.

Dasaratha was pleading with her like this. Kaikeyi herself told that o go back on ones words is wrong.Then he told in the RAJASABHA that he is enthroning Rama the nextday. IF he did not abide by his words what would the people think of him?They would think that he was wavering type.Sumithra would would be afraid that if the king could send even Rama to the woods, what would be the plight of her son?People would losw confidence in him.Seetha would not withstand this cruelty towards Rama.If thes e things happen, it is sure that he would die.He cursed her to become a widow and rule the country along with Bharatha.

Kaikeyi adamant

Dasaratha was pleading with her tobe lenient towards Rama. Practically he fell on her feet and started begging her.He started reminding her Of Ramas character. Rasma used to serve her more than Bharatha.Even she praised him many atime in the past.Dasaratha would be helpless without Rama.He was saying that he was old and on the verge of dying. Let he be kind enough not to pressurise him to override his own words.

Kaikeyi did not deter in her pursuit.She became wild and started abusing Dasaratha.Till then he had been known as righteous person. If he now went back on his words entire world would look down on him.He could not hold his head high.In the past Saibyudu had given his own flesh to the eagle to keep his word.Alarka had given his own eyes and reached heaven.Samudrudu(ocean) never crosses the shore as he had given his word to that effect.To go back on ones words is wrong.Dasaratha might be thinking to back on his words and make Rama the king and live with KOUSALYA happily. But Kaikeyi would see to it that it never materialises.She would not care whether her demands are right or wrong.,good or bad. he had to grant her demands.

Kaikeyi reveals her wishes

Kaikeyi tells dasaratha that his promise was heard by all the gods and he can not go back on his words. She reminds him that in the past ,during the war between suras asuras she saved his life. Then he gave her two boons. She had not yet used them. Now she wanted make use dof those boons. If Dasaratha failed to fulfil her wishes she would kill herself.First , Dasaratha hes to conduct the enthronement of Bharatha with the provisions brought to enthrone Rama. Secondly ,immediately Rama should be sent to the forests for fourteen years and he has to lead alife of a sage during that time. In this way there wont be ANY obstacles for Bharatha in ruling the country.Dasaratha fainted on hearing these words.After sometime, he woke up but could not asssess whether what he had heard was real or hallucination.He was afraid to look at Kaikeyi.

He started abusing her with anger.She was abad omen to their family.Dasaratha and Rama never did any harm to her.Rama looks after Kaikeyi very well.On what pretext should Dasaratha send Rama to the forest?Not knowing that she was a venomous cobra Dasaratha had brought her home.Even birds and animals are loving Rama.aNd she wants to send him to forest.He would not leave him and he would lose his life if cannot see Rama.

Dasarathas plight

Dasaratha was practically begging her. He wanted to know the reason behind her anger.He wanted to know why she was lying on the floor when he was alive. WAS her haelth not good?If it was so he would call the best doctors to look after her ailment.If she had any unfulfilled wish she had to tell him.If she wants to make any one he would do so . if she wanted to harm anyone he would harm them.TO please her he would assassinate the righteous one and leave the criminal.He would make a beggar rich and richman a beggar.He was all hers. H ewas to leave his life if it pleases her.He lost his reasoning in his lust for his youthful wife and he was definitely a old husband.

KNowing his desperateness tp please her. Kaikeyi was telling him so. Nothing had happened to her. No one has ill behaved with her. She ha da wish and if he promises to fulfill it only she would tell him.

Dasaratha replied her that among women heloved Kaikeyi the most and among men he loved Rama the most. He pledged on Rama that he would not go back on his words and fullfill her wish . he pledged thrice.

Kaikeyi polluted

Kaikeyi started praising Mandhara. Mandhara was not straight. Her backbone was distorted. Kaikeyi was praising her intelligence.If Mandhara was not there King might have done injustice her.After Bharatha got enthroned and Rama leaves for the forests ,Kaikeyi promised to present her gold ornaments especially to her distorted back.Saying so Kaikeyi went into Alaka gruham and removed all her ornaments and threw them all ove.She removed her flower garlandsand threw them over the floor.She wore worn out black clothes and unpalited her hair and lay down. THis type of her attire embodes her losing her husband.

Dasaratha left his court and started to go to Kaikeyis palace to reveal his desire to make Rama the king . He was sure that she would feel happy about his decision.He went there and she could not beseenanywhere. Servantmaid told that she was in alakagruham. H went there and started to touch her.

Kaikeyi tempted

Kaikeyi became angry.HER face was reddened.How could she stand before Kousalya meekly after behaving arrogantly so long?She requested Mandhara to show her the way out.Then MANDHARA STARTED TELLING HER About the past.THe time relates to the past when there was a fight between Kambarasura and Indra.Dasaratha was fighting with ASuras and became unconscious. Then Kaikeyi took him aside away from the war field and saved his life.Then Dasaratha was happy for her timely action and gave her two boons. At that time Kaikeyi did not ask him anything but told that she would use them when she felt like in the future.Kaikeyi only told about this incident to Mandhara in the past. Mandhara is now advising Kaikeyi to use those boons now.One was to make Bharatha the king and the second was to send Rama togo the woods for fourteen years. If people dont see Rama for fourteen years they would easily forget him.THey would easily follow Bharatha.In the meantime kingdom would be confidently Bahrathas.

She was telling Kaikeyi to go to kopamandiram wearing wornout clothes and start crying . not to lift her head even if the king came.Dasaratha loves her so much that he would be ready to fall in embers or lose his life.HE would try to make her see sense inhis wish and try to pacify her. bUt she should divulge from her task. First she has to take word that he would not waver from jis words of accepting her wishes. Then only she had to disclose her wishes.

MAndhara poisons Kaikeyi

Kaikeyi was at first very happy to hear the news.She gifted Mandhara on telling her the good news.She would fulfil any other wish of Mandhara.But Mandhara thows the ornament given by Kaikeyi and scolds her like this.This was the time to weep and feel sorry. because no one would feel happy if sapthnis son was happy.If Rama became king, Kaikeyi would become Kousalyas servant.Bharatha plight would also be the same.There was no other go than to serve Rama in future.

Kaikeyi was explaining Mandhara thus.There was no meaning in mANDHARAS WORDS. rAMA WASa good person.He was the eldest son and most appropriate person to become the king.Rama would serve Kaikeyi more than Kousalya.It would be better if Rama became the king. If at all, Bharatha wanted to become a king, Rama would rule for hundred years and then give the kingdom to Bharatha.

Mandhara explains to Kaikeyi that after Rama his sons would automatically get enthroned.All the kings sons would not become kings. It will pass on to the eldest only.Rama would thow Bharatha out of the coulntry or assassinate him.So she tells Kaikeyi to send him to forest direct from his maternal house.In the past kaikeyi had full control over Dasarathas affections. So she insulted Kousalya quite often. So it would be Kousalyas turn to insult Kaikeyi as she was kings mother.So she pleads with Kaikeyi to crossover this danger by planning immediately.

jealosy of Mandhara

Mandhara was servantmaid of Kaikeyi. She went upstairs looked over the city.She could not understand the reason for such activity. So she enquired another servant the reason for such hungama.Kousalya who has mean mentality was donating and giving gifts to the citizens. This explains Mandharas biassed opinion of Kousalya.Another maid told her that the very next day Rama was being made the king.Mandhara could not hold her jealosy and ran to Kaikeyi. Kaikeyi as sleeping at that time.She awakens Kaikeyi that calamity was falling over her. Rama was being made the king.She was poising the mind of Kaikeyi thus.According to her Kaikeyi was innocent. Dasaratha was explointing her and while talking sweetly to her he was doing favors to Kousalya. Intentionally he sent away Bharatha and was making Rama the king in his absence.If Rama becomes The kING Kaikeyi and her people do not have any future.

Sri Rama goes to Kousalyas palace

After hearing Dasarathas words Rama went to his palace.From there he went to his mothers palace.Sumithra and Lakshmana were there. Seetha also came there on their bidding.Kousalya was praying Narayana. THen Rama disclosed this information to her.Kousalya was very happy. Rama told Lakshmana that they would rule the country together. Later Rama left to his palace along with Seetha.

As per Dasarathas instructions Vasishta came to Rams abode.Vasishta made Rama and Seetha to observe fast for that night.Ramas palace was colorful with Ramas friends gathered and talking about next days function.Entire city was active and being decorated for the festival.SEETha and Rama prayed Narayana and slept on grass that night. THey woke up early in the morning and decorated their building.

turbulance of Dasaratha

Even Rama might be aware of this Rajya sulkam by Dasaratha.THere is no doubt about it because Rma only revealed this secret to Bharatha at a later date.Remembering this what if Rama denied to accept the throne?THenDasarathas wish would not be fulfilled.That was why Dasaratha was pleading with Rama once and again accept his wish.Rama accepted his wish. BecauseRama would not like to belittle his fathert before others.It was not in his nature.Because he was strong willed , he left it to fate to take its own course.

As marriage proposals take place between elders, even Kaikeyi might also be ignorant of this arrangement.Dasaratha was optimistic that as mANDHARA HAD JOINED Kaikeyi after her martriage she too would have been ignorant of this Rajya sulkam.

Dasaratha was crazy about Rama. So he was desperate to overlook his promise to Kaikeyi.But in this issue Fate has helped Dasaratha in not becoming asatyavan.

The reason for Dasaratha for going to Kaikeyi s abode was mainly to convince her in this major issue. He was confident that she liked and loved Rama very much.So even if Bharatha came and questioned him regarding this injustice he could easily say that as his mothe ralso did not have any objection , he proceded wihth the idea.

Overall Dasaratha was suffering from guilty conscience.He knew he was doing wrong.He was caught in web of immnse love towards Rama.He was ready to overlook his promise and godown as asatyavan in the panels of history.

Dasarathas dilema

Of the four sons Dasarathas love fo r Rama is very much.So he wanted to make him the king.He got acknowledge ment from the people.He did not invite JANAKA And Kekaya KINGS.If Kekaya king came and enquired about promise he made at the time of marriage, he can not answer. If Janaka comes and questions about his son in law was not made the king as he was the eldest he could not answer.So he abstained from inviting both of them.

He was afraid that Kekaya king might have told this secret to Bharatha.What if Bharatha creates trouble in this regard?So he felt it would be better if Rama was made king before his arrival.Then he can not do anything.

Vasishata was kings Raja purohith. So he would definitely be knowing about this Rajya sulkamu.If Dasaratha asked him to fix an auspicious date for the function, Vasishta might object and recall about his promise.He might request Dasaratha to wait till Bharatha came and then proceed. By that time it might be too late.So Dasaratha himself fixed the date. Once it is confirmed by the king Vasishta would not interfear.

dASArathas turmoil

We observe Dasarathas tension in this episode. Why he was talking about BHaratha like that we do not understand.HE TOOK peoples consent toMake Rama the king. But he had not confided with Kekaya king and Janaka in this matter.He did not even consult his Brahimn Vasishta regarding the good date to perform the function. He himself had decided.He was very particular that teh function should be over before Bharatha returned from Kekaya.What if Bharatha came and attended the function? Why was he pleading with Rama to accept his request?Why as he telling that it sould happen before his mind changes?

THe reason behind all this was told by Rama himself to Bharatha when he had gone to CXhitrakuta mountains to bring Rama back.

The issue dates back to Kaikeyis marriage.DASARATHA WANTED TOmarry Kaikeyi.As he was already having two wivges, Kekaya king was not interested to give his daughter.Then Dasaratha told that he would make the son of Kaikeyi the future king of Ayodhya and then he married .

SRI Rama comes toDasaratha

Sumanthra brought Rama on a chariot.Dasaratha was seeing him from upstairs.SriRama was glowing like Gandharva.He was tall and was cute to look at.Even males are attracted by his beautiful stature.He attracts their site by physical features and heart by his character.He doe sgood to people and makes them happy.Dasaratha was not satisfied by looking at Rama even for long spells.He wanted to see him again and again.SUMANTHRA TOOK rAMA TO dASARATHA. Rama saluted his father.Dasaratha hugged him and made him sit by his side.Dasaratha told Rama that as he was his eldest wifes son and an efficient person he wanted to make him his successor.He wanted to do it on the Pushya nakshatra. the very next day.

Dasaratha was telling Rama to be more docile, control his senses and look after the people very well.Rmas friends told this news to Kousalya and she was very happy.Rma went to his abode. Dasaratha again directed Sumanthra to call Rama to his chamber.Rama came to his father. Dasaratha was talking to Rama thus.HEhad enjoyed his life to the fullest extent. now he was old. He wanted make him the king. But he was finding bad omens of late.He was getting bad dreams which imply kings death.human mind is not stable. So Rama should be mada the king the very next day. So he advised Rama and his wife to fast and lie piously that night.Bharatha was not in town. he did not want to wait for him. Bharatha was good but one could not evaluate ones line of thought.

Dasarathas wish to make Srirama a king

Dasaratha wanted to make Rama the king during his lifetime only.He calledhsi associates and friends to Ayodhya.He did not send for Kekaya king and Janaka.He addressed the invitees that he was becoming old and he wanted to make Rama the king with their consent.All of them agreed to his wish immediately.They agreed so fast thathe doubted if his rule had any faults. Then they praised Rama.Rama was ferocious. he wasthe best among Ikshwaku dynasty.He was kind to all.He treats the masses as his own.If any was in grief he would grieve along with them.If ANY ONE WAS CELEBRATING HE WOULD FEEL HAPPY LIKE A FATHER.\.He is always pleasant.If any one crosses him h e would enquire first.He never leaves righteous path.He has control over his senses.He knows how to rule.He is cvapable of ruling all the three lokas or worlds.So they want Rma to be made king soon.

Dasaratha directed his sages Vasishta and Vamadeva to look in topreparations.Every thing was completed.Then he directed his minister ,Sumathra to bring Rama.

Ayodhyakandamu

Bharatha went to Kekayas capitalGirivrajam along with his brother Sathrughna.Rama and Lakshmana resided in Ayodhya.Dasaratha was blind in his love for Rama.It is not strange.Because Rama had good character,beautiful stature. It attracted everyoune.H ewas calm and composed.He was never harsh but was kind in his attitude with others.Even when otthers were harsh towards him, he never lost his temper.Before others started enquiring, he would enquire about their wellbeing.

Buddhimaan madhurabhashee

Poorvabhashee priyamvada

Our talk should be like that.However great we might be, if we enquire the person first who comes to us he would be happy.There is no harm done to us.The way Sun was shining by its rays ,Rama was shining by his good deeds.Observing Rama ,even Bhudevi wanted him to be her husband.

married life of Rama and Seetha

Newly wedded couples enjoyed thier lives for some seasons.Dasarathas sons were careful in attending to their duties.THey also attended to Dasaratha.They did not forget their duties and responsibilities in spite of leading their married lives with their life partners happily.After some time, Dasaratha called Bharatha and told him to accompany his maternal uncle to their city.Seetha and Rama concentratedon each otherand led ahappyfamily lifefor many seasons.There are three main reasons for Rama to like and love Seetha. They are like this. 1.She was selected by his father. 2.She has a good character.3.She was very beautiful.If Rma loved Seetha,Seethas love for him was twofold.Because they loved each other ,they could assess what was in others mind.Rama could understand thelove Seetha had for him.Similarly Seetha could feel Ramas love towards her.

Seetah devi is also called as Mythili and Janakathmaja.Since she was born in Mythila she had reasoning power.She was the daughter of Janaka Maharshi, so she is scholarly.So she could easily understand her husbands love towards her.

Parasuramas return to Mahendra mountains

Dasaratha was pleading with Parasurama that he no longer bred hatred towards kings. he was now afamous Brahmin.He threw away the weapons and arrows in the presence of Indra.He gave away Earth to Kashyapa and left for Mahendra Mountains.But Parasurama did not pay any heed to Dasarathas words.

Rama replied him that he had had praised Parasurama for his past deeds. Now he was belittling Rama.He would not entertain such talk.So Rama lifted the Vishnu bow and ste the arrow.THen he told Parasurama that since he was Brahmin ,he would not kill him.But as the arrow was very power ful it cant be taken back. it should be used on something.Hegave him choice as where to use it-whether on his path or on his fruits of thapa.

Then Parasurama realised his folly. he understood Ramas greatness.As he had to return to mountains. he asked Rama to strike at the worlds he created by his thapa but save his padagathi.He was not ashamed to be defeataed in Ramas hands.Sages and Devathas praisd Rama.Rama then gave that Vishnu dhanush to Varun.

THen Rama consoled Dasaratha and started for Ayodhya.Citizens were very happy.Kousalya,Sumithra and Kaikeyi welcomed his sons and theirwives.

Parasu ramudu

On their return, suddenly darkness came and everyone fainted except Dasaratha and his family and sages.Then appeared Parasurama.Vasishta and aother sages prayed him.Parasurama brought great bow along with him. I t was Vishnu Dhanush.He addressed Rama that he had heard about how Rama broke Shiva Dhanush.So now he demanded that Rama break up this Vishnu Dhanush also. Later they would fight duel.

Dasaratha was afraid that Rama might come to harm in that duel.SO he requested Viswamitra to gain control over his emotions.Parasurama was talking to Rama only. In the past there was fight between Vishnu and Shiva.Then Viswakarma made two special bows and gave them .Shivas bow stuck up and could not be used. So Shiva gave it toDevarathudu.THat bow was now broken by Rama.

Sudhanvudu

After coming to throne,Janaka was living with his younger brither in Mithila.Then king Sudhanvundu of Saankasyapuram invaded Mithila for Shuva dhanush and also for Seetha in marriage.Janaka rejected his demand.In the war,Sudhanvudu was killed. Then Kusadhwajudu was made the king of Saankasyapuram.

Janaka agreed to give Seetha to Rama ,Urmila to Lakshmana, Mandavi to Bharatha and Sruthakeerthi to Satrughna.When they were giving Godaana , bHARATHAA S MATERNAL UNCLE CAME OVER THERE.His name is Yudhajitthu.W hile giving Seetha to Rama , Janaka tells her about Pathivratha traits indirectly.Marriage occured on Uttara phalguni star. All the four marriages were conducted with utmost satisfacion, pomp and enthusiasm.Next day Viswamitra blessed the couples and left for Himalayas. H ehad done his duty of uniting Rama and Seetha

Dasaratha started for Ayodhya along with hisfamily and friends.Janaka gave them many presents and gifts..

Jankas vamsavruksha

Vasishat explains thatthese were very pure, from the beginning. THey are ferocious, straight forward,righteous and truthful.So,Jnaka can give his daughters to Rama and Lakshmana.THEN,Janaka said that hisancestry was also great.He reveals his lineage thus.

Dasarathas journey to Mithila

Dasaratha went to Mithila along with his ministers, royal priests. THey took gold, diamonds and precious items along with them.Janaka welcomed them profuselyand told that he would conduct marriage according to sages directions.It was a joyous atmosphere.Everyone was happy.Yagna was completed succesfully.Janakas younger brother,Kusadhwajudu protected the yagna.He lived on teh banks of Ikshumathi, in town,Sankasya.Janaka sent his minister,Sudamanudu,to invite Dasaratha and his men.Asper Dasaraths request,Vasishta told thelineage of Ikshwaku VAmsam like this.

Shiva dhanush

After completion of yagna, Janaka came to vISWAMITRA And told him about the great bow.Emperor Nimis sixth son was Devarathudu.Shiva kept this bow and arrows with Devarathudu.During Dakshayagna, Shiva was angry and threatened Devathas that he would destroy them with this bow.They were afraid and pleaded with Shiva. he got pacified and gave the bow to his forefather ,Deva rathudu.

Janaka wanted to give Seetha to the most eligible person.So he stated that whoever lifted the bow and used it properly , he would be given his daughter in marriage.Kings who failed in this, waged a war against Janaka. Then Janaka did a thapa and Devatha s blessed him with cavalry. infantry etc to defeat his enemies.

JaNKA DIRECTE D HIS MEN TO bring the DHANUSH.Five thousand strong men brought it on a eight wheeled platform.Shrirama asked their permission to see it and then use it. AsHE LIFTED IT and tried touse it broke into pieces with a thunderous sound.Janaka told Viswamitra that he would like to give his daughter in marriage to Rama . HE would send his men to bring Dasaratha.But Rama said that without his fathers approval he would not marry Seetha.Dasaratha was happy to know about Ramas marriage and he disclosed the information toVasishta and Vamadeva.If all assent ,they would go to Mithila the next day.

Journey to Mithila

After leaving Gowthamas Ashram,Viswamitra took Rama and Lakshmana to a place where Janaka was doing Yagna.Janaka welcomed these along with his minister,Sathanandudu.He requested them to stay till the YAGNA WAS OVER. hE ENQUIRED ABOUT Rama and Lakshmana.Viswamitra told that they were Dasarathas sons. HE EXPLAINED him of recent happenings. He revealed their wish to see Shiva dhanush.Sathanada was the son Ahalya and Gowthama.He came to know that his parents were reunited and was happy. He praised Viswamitra and told Rama was very lucky because Viswamitra was protecting him.

Janaka was a yogi. H ewas not materialistic.Inthis context he was much above Dasaratha who was bilnd in love with Rama.Janaka was doing this Yagna for the marriage of his daughter Seetha.Seetha was found by Janaka when he was ploughing the land.He took her home and she grew up there.Seetha was ayonija.Janaka was unable to find suitable bridegroom for her.There was a great bow in his house which was given to him by Varuna.No one could lift it and use it.

Ahalya sapavimochanam

After walking for sometime,Rama came across Ashramam near Mithilanagaram.It was in dilapited condition.No one was living there. To Ramas enquiry Viswamithra explained .That was the abode of sage Gowthama.Gowthama did penance for many years along with wife Ahalya.Indra wanted to destroy Gowthamas penance.So,he approached Ahalya in the form of Rishi in the absence of Gowthama.He expressed his interest in her.Though she knew he was Indra ,she accepted his offer.GOWTHAMA SAW iNDRA COMING FROM ashram and knew what had happened.He cursed Indra to become impotent.He cursed Ahalya also to eat air and do penance in ashes without being seen by any one.When Shri Rama comes ,she would become clean and leave her lust.

Indra went to Devatha sND TOLD THEM OF HIS PLIGHT.Then they sawsto it that he had the testicles of aries.

As Rams feet touched Ashram, Ahalya became visible.She welcomed Rama,fed him and prayed.Gowthama also came and prayed Rama.Viswamitra took Rma and Lakshmana to Mithila.

indra and dithi

From the churning of the sea,Ucchasravam,precious horse,Kousthubhamand Amrutham came.There was fierce war between suras and asuras for Amrutham.Many died.So,Vishnu in the form of Mohini got hold of Amrutham and started distributing it to Devathas only.They killed Asuras. Indra got the kingdom pof heaven along with Amrutham.

Dithi lpst all her sons.She was dejected.She went to hur husband and told him that his sons killed all her sons. She asked him to give one more son who had the capacity to kill Indra.She was ready to do Thapa to attain it.Kashyapa obliged her and touched her entire body. She had to be clean till she had the child and he would be borne to her after 1000 years.

Dithi went to Kusaplavana foretsand started Thapa.Indra came to help her.He arranged everything needed to do thapa ike Darbhalu,Samidhalu,Agni,fruits ,water etc.Whenever needed he did Gathra samvahanamand fan her for her relaxation.Like this somany years have passed.oNLY TEN YEARS WERE LEFT.Dithi was happy with Indras involvementin fulfilling her deeksha.So. she would not allow her son to defeat Indra but they should live amicablyand rule the entire world together.

One afternoon,she felt like sleeping.She slept in a wrong position as a result of which she lost her cleanliness.Observing this,Indra enterd her womb and cut her embryo into several pieces.Hearing childs crying, Dithi got up and realised what had happened.Indra asked for her forgiveness as the child was going to be his rival in future.

She was not angry with Indra because she could not maintain cleanliness.Indra cut thye child into seven parts . She asked him to cut each part into seven partsand made them SApthamarudganaswho rule the world.ONE Gana inBrahmaloka,on e inIndra loka,one in the sky and remaining four gaqnas in four directions should rule the entire world,.When the child was crying INdra said maruda ,maruda. So they would be called as Maruthamulu.

iNDRA AND dITHI THEN LEFT FOR heaven.

Viswamithra was telling Rma that thy were in the place where Dithi did her penance..THat Kusaplavanam was now called asVisalapuri.Ikshwaku kings sonVisaludu built the city.His generation.Sumathi was ruling the country for the present. THat night they would stay ther and next day they would leave forking Jnakas kingdom.Sumathi came to know of the arrival of Viswamitra and hence welcomed them.

Amrutha madhanam

THis story concerns about the time in Kruthayuga.THere were two sects.-Dithis children and Adithis children.Sons od Dithi were strong.Sons of ADithi were ferocious and righteous.Both were thinkig of how to overcome oldage, disease and death.THey were determined to churn PalasaMUDRAMfor Amrutham.THey made Mandhara mountain as a stick to churn Palasamudram.First they got Halahalam-poison.THey were afraid and requestd SHiva to accept it as agrapuja.Vishnu also requested him in this regard.Shiva gulped it as if it were Amrutham and hence became Srikantudu.He detained it in his throat only.

again they started churning and this time Mandhara PARVATHAM SANK INTO pathala.Then Devthas and Gandharvas requestd VISHNU TO HELP THEM.Then Vshnu held the mountain in the form of tortoise/turtle on his back . He alos held his hands high and helped in churning also.

After some time,Dhanvantari vame upfollowed by Apsaras.Since they were formed from the juice fotmed from churning they were called as Apsarasalu.60000 crores of Apsaras were born.No one married them. So they either became normal women or prostitutes.

Daughter of Varuna deva Varuni (Sura) came from sea and went in search oh who would marry her.Sons of Dithi did not marry her.Sons of Adithi married her and hence became Suralu.Dithis sons became Asuras.

jahnavi

Ganga was following Bhagiratha.During its path it invaded great sage Juhnus Yagasala with water.He got angry and drank Ganga. Then all rishis and devathas requested him to release Ganga and appeased him saying that she would be his daughter.Then he released her through his ears.THatis why she is also called as Jahnavi.Like this Ganga joined seaand then went into Pathala to fulfill Bhagirathas task.Its waters ran through the ashes of Sagaras sons . HENCE THEY WER Ecleared of their sins and hence went to Heaven.

Since Ganga was brought to Earth by Bhagiratha. it is also called as Bhagirathi.Brahma came and blessed Bhagiratha.Viswamitra told this story to Rama and Lakshmana.

Then they slept and next day they went to Vishalapuram.Rama wanted to know about the city and Viswamitra obliged.

Bhagiratha

Sagara tried in vain to bring Ganga to Earth.HE died.Amsumantha ruled the country. Later he gave the kingdom to his son Dilip. In time, he too passed away.His son was Bhagiratha.He did not have children.Heleft the kingdom to his ministersand did thapa for 1000 years.Brahma came asked about his wish.Heasked that jalatarpan to sagaras sons be made possible and he be gifted with a son to continue the progeny.Brahma accepted his wish and told him to take the help of Shiva to control and withhold Ganga. Bhagirhatha did thapa to appease Shiva and he agreed to withhold ganga in his plaits on his fead.

Ganga was arrogant and felt that Shiva cannot hold her so she would take him to Bhuloka with herspeed.Shiva assessed her arogance and as a result she could not come out of his jatas.So many years have passed. Bhagiratha could not find Ganga. So he went to thapa again.Shiva was satisfied. So he left Ganga in bindu sarassu ie bindu lake.After leaving Shiva Ganga branched in to seven payas.Thay were hladini,Pavani,Nalini branches flew towarsd east.suchakshuvu,seetha,sindhuvu branches flew towardswest.seventh branch went behind Bhagirahtaha.by touching shiva ganga became pureand sacred . so not only humans butsages and devathas also did take bath in ganga.

So ,Sagaras sonswent in search of the horse.They harassed each and everyone who came acrossand killed them.They could not find the horse.They returned told their their father but heorderd them to and search again and return with the horse only.They dug the earth deep. at its end ,they found an elephant Virupakshabearing the part of the earth.They saluted it and turned South from east.There they found great elephant-Mahapadmamu.Towards west they came across great elephant-Sowmenasamu and towardsNorth they found bhadramu.Towards the corner EAsanya. they found Vishnu in the form of Kapila.Near hi was the horse they were searching.THey thought he was the culprit and went against him. Kapila burnt them alive with his anger.

SAgara waited for his sons ,but it was futile.Then he sent his grandson Amsumantha in search of his sons and the horse.Amsumantha came across the horse and the ashes of his uncles.To do jalatarpanam he searched for water but he could not find any.Then maternal uncle of his uncles came there.He advised him that ordinary water would not suffice the purpose. But Ganga from heaven should be brought and flown over the ashes to fulfil the jalatarpanam.But for the present . he told amsumantha to take the horse and do the yagna successfully.

Another story prevailed regarding Ganga .Once upon atime king Sagara ruled Ayodhya.He was arighteous man.He had two wives-Kesini  and Sumathi.Elder wife Kesini was righteous and younger wife Sumathi was beautiful.They did not have children.Along with his wives he went to bhruguprasravanam in Himalayas and did penance.Bhrugu maharshi blessed him with children. he told that one son who can procreate  would be born to kesini and Sumathi would have 60000 children without procreating ability. Both were happy andKesini gave birth to Asamanjudu. Sumathi gave birth to 60000 children who were developed in ghee bowls till they grew up .

Asamanjudu had a very bad habit.He used to dip peoples children in Ssarayu river and enjoying thier plight.people went sagara and explaned the atrocities od Asamanjudu. Sagara shunned asamanjudu from the country.

After some time ,Sagara wanted to do yagna.Asamanjas son wasamsumanthdu.He was very efficient.Plateau between Himalayas and Vindhya mountains was the right place to start the yagna.Amsumantha accompanied Sasgara in conducting Aswamedha yaga.indra came like ademon and stole theyagna aswam.Ruthvijas told Sagara that if yagnaswam was not brought back ,bad would happen.so,Sagara sent his 60000 sons in search of the horse.

Devathas were ashamed of their act. Shiva ,along with parvathi went to Himalayas and did penance.As Shiva went for penance, Devathas did not have senapathi.They went to Brahama and pleaded with him to provide them with senapathi.Then Brahma told them that they could not have children due to Parvathis curse. He would make Ganga bear a child withAgni deva. As gangas son would also be Parvathis son, Parvathi would love that child and would not harm him.

Devathas then requestd Agnideva to release shivathejas into Ganga for which she also obliged.Ganga could not bear that Shiva thaejas and told Agnideva .he told her to release the foetus at teh fot of Himalayas if she could not bear it.From the released thejas.gold and silver came into existanc.From its friction, copper and iron came into existance.from its dirt, mercury and metals were formed.kailasam became golden mountain.So gold was also called as jatharupam.Kumaraswamy was born. Kruthikas bathed him and fed him with milk.As he was born from aborted foetus(skannam),he was also called as skandudu.He drank the milk for only one day. Later he became ferocious and defeated Rakshasa infantry.From then he became senapathi of devatha. 

gangavataranam

Rama asked Viswamitra about how River Ganges came to be known as Tripadhaga.How can it cover all the three lokas and reach Samudrudu?Viswamitra started explaining him.There was amountain king called Himavanthudu.His wife was Manorama.She was thedaughter of Meruparvatha.She had two daughters named Ganga and Parvathi.

One day all the Devathas came to Himavantha and requested him tosend Ganga along with them for their Karyasiddhi.Uma did ugrathapa. She married Shiva.Ganga became river of Devathas in Swarga.Shiva was involvedwith Parvathi in the act of procreation.Brahma and other Devathas requestd him not to consummate with Parvathi.Thejas already released by that time was borne by the earth.Devathas requested Agnidev to mingle Vayudevaand enter this Shivthejas.As a result this Thejas became awhite mountain.It became a saravanam.From here Kumaraswamy was born.He was fed milk by Kruthikas.So,he was named as Karthikeya.As Agnideva held Shivthejas, he was also called as ASgniputhra.

After this event Devathas prayed Shiva-Parvathi.But Parvathi was not pacified. She cursed all of them as they curtaled her effort to bear a child.They would not have children with their wives. She also cursed Earth that she would become wife to many and she would never be happy with her sons.

Braham dattas marriage

braham datta was living in kampilaya nagaram.He lived luxuriously.Kusanabha got his daughters married to Brahmadatta.Assoon as they got married they got back their original beauty.

kusanabhudu did not have son. So he wanted to perform Puthrakameshti yagam.Then kusudu appeared and told him that he would have a son named Gaadhi.because of gaadhi , Kusanabhudu would become famous.Gaadhi was my father.Viswamitra was born in Kusavamsa.So he got the name of Kousika.Hehad an elder sister.she was the wife of Ruchikudu.She was the mother of Sunassephudu.She was pious and very loyal to her husband.so she went to swarg with her body.She achieved what Thrisanku could not achieve by her sanctity and piousness.She became KOusiki river near Himalayas.Viswamitra wanted to be near his sister.So he made his abode there.To perform the yaga he came to this place.

then they walked andreache dthe banks of ganges.There they bathed and had their food.

yaga rakshana

For five days continuouslyRama and Lakshmana guarded the yaga.On the sixth day,Maricha and Subahu came.They rained blood.Then rama dealtMarichs chest with Manavastram.With its force,went over 100 yojanas and fell in the sea.As it could not kill Maricha, Rama used AAgneyastram on Subahu and killed him.

Next day morning Viswamitra told them that he would take them to king Janaka.THer they could see the Shiv dhanush.Noone could either lift it or use it.So they started and by sunset they reached the banks of Sona nadi.Then Rama wanted to know about that place and Viswamitra obliged.

Kusuduwas teh son of Brahma.He had four sons.they were Kusaambudu,Kusanabhudu,Adhurtharajasudu and Vasuvu.He told his sons to rule thekingdom.Four sons created four capitals and were ruling their zones.Kusambudu made KOusambi as his capital.Kusanabhudu-Mahodayamu,Adhurtharajasudu-Dharmaranyamu and Vasuvu made Girivrajamu as their capitals.

viswamitra ,Rama and Lakshamana were now in the kingdom of Vasuvu.It was placed in between five mountains.KUsanabha was Rajarshi.His wife was GHRutachi-an apsarasa.They had 100 daughters.They were all very beautiful.One day ,they were enjoying nature in the garden.VAyudeva saw them and wanted to marry them.They declined to obey him.because they respected their father and they abide by his wish as whom to marry.Vayudeva made them grotesque and ugly as they did not heed to his request.They went to thier father and explained as to what had happened. He praised their patience.

Thre was a rushi called Chuli.Somada . gandharva kanya was attending on him.Hewas pleased by her service and asked what her wish was.She wanted a son with the power of Brahmana.Chuli gave her Manasaputhra by name Brahmadatta.

Siddhashramam

ama saw an ashram there.He enquired Viswamitra  about it. Then  he started telling about it.Vishnu did thapa for many years in that place.This was the abode of Vishnu while in vamanavathara.The great sage Kashyapa attained thapassiddi in this place.So,this place was called as siddhashramam.During that time only, Bali chakravarthiwon over Devathas . He became the king of heaven ie swarg.Then he started one yaga.Then all the devathas along with agnidev came to Vishnu.They requested him tohelp themin regaining swarg from bali.At that time ,Kashyapa was doing thapa along with his wife.Then Vishnu enquired them what their wish was.Then Kashyapa told that Vishnu should be borne to them and become Indras brother . Heshould also help devathas in regainig swarg from Bali.Vishnu agreed.

Then Vishnu was born asVamana to adithi and Kashaypa.Then he went to Bali and asked him land of three feet.WITH two feet he covered allthe three lokas and for the third.he laid his foot on Bali s head andgave back swarg toDevendra.So, in this place Viswamitra was doing the yaga.Rama and Lakshmana had to guard the yaga fromdemons.Yaga had to be completed in six days.

Astra pradanam

viswamitra gave all the astra in his control next day morning to Rama.

They were as follows--dharma chakramu,Kalachakramu,Vishnu chakramu,Indrastramu,Vajrastarmu,Saiva sulamu,Brahmasiramu,Iheekamu,Brahmastramu,Modaki and sikahri-2gadas,Dharmapasamu,Kaalapasamu,Varunapasamu,Vaarunastramu,Sushkasani,AArdrasani,Pynaakaastramu,kkkk

kaastramu,Naaraayanaastramu,Aagneyaastramu,Vaayavyaastramu,hayasironamastramu,Krounchastramu,Vishnusakthi

astramu,vishnusakthi,Rudrasakthi and many other powerful weapons.

Rama learnt all the astras -how to use them and recall them with humility.

thataka samharam contd

thataka samharam  was done by Rama with bare hands.Actually Rama was not intersted to kill a woman. But Viswamitra explained that in view of the welfare of cows and brahamnas he had kill Tataka.In this context he told that earlier indra killed mandhara and Vishnu killed Sukras mother.InThe mean time, thataka rained stones on them and came ferociously. Rama cut her arms and lakshmana cut her nose and ears.and in the fight that ensued Rama killed Thataka.Indra and devathas over her demise. they pleaded with Viswamitra to transfer all the astras to Rama.Viswamitra gave all the astras to Rama. Rama learnt how to use them and how to recall them also.

thataka samharam

Rma,Lakshamna and Viswamitra went into the forest.Rama enquired him about that forest. viswamitra answered him.Once upon atime Indra killed Vruthasura.As aresult, he incurred BRahmahathya dosham.he became unclean and suffered from hunger.Indra got rid of his uncleanlilness here and became clean.As a result he made this place fertile .These Malada karusa desams were blessed with fertleness.Later an yakhshini  named Thataka was born here.She was born with the strength of thousand elephants.she was the of Sundudu.They had son named Marichudu.maricha was aRakshasa and he was harassing the people of thes countries.

Then rama asked that he knew hat Yakshinis were weak normally. how come this lady had strength of thousand elephants. then Viswamitra told him so.It was due to blessing.Ther was an yaksha named suketha.He did not have children. So he did thapa.Brahma was satisfied with his thapa  and blessed him with adaughter of this strength than ason.She was very beautiful.on one occassion ,SAge Agastya had to kill sundudu. Then Thataka and maricha went and looked at the sage angrily. sage sursed them to become rakshasas.fRom then onwards they became violent and destryed the country. So Rama had kill Thataka.

Viswamitras yagarakshana

While Dasaratha was discussing about his sons marriages with his ministers ,Viswamitra arrived.Dasaratha welcomed him wholeheartedly and with due respect.Then he said he would fulfil his wish. then Viswamitra asked him to send Rama along with him to assassinate Rakshasas while he did yaga.Dasaratha loved Rama very much. He was afraid to send him to the forest with Viswamitra. to him he was still a child.But he could not go back on his word. Vasishta also encouraged him that everything good will turn out  if he sent Rama along with viswamitra. So reluctanatly Dasaratha agreed. Lakshmana also expressed his wish to gowith Rama and it was agreed.So they left behind Viswamitra.he gave him all the powers. he told the mantras-bala and athibala- as a result of which they would feel neither hunger nor thirst.

While Dasaratha was discussing about his sons marriage,viswamitra arrived into his court.dasaratha invited him with respect. he enquired about his wellbeing and told that he would fulfill his wishes.Then Viswamithra asked him to send Rama along with him to protect yagna from rakshasas.Dasaratha was very fond of Rama and he did not want toleave him in the hands of Viswamitra.hepleaded for some other course but viswamitra did not hear of it. Dasaratha was afraid that viswamitra would curse hi if he did not accept his wishes.So he reluctantly agreed to his wishes.Vasishta also consoled him that every thing good will come out if he sent rama along with Viswamitra.

Lakshmana also accompanied Rama.Rama and Lakshmana went behind Viswamitra upto Sarayu river.Viswamitra gave all his powers to Rama.hetold them mantras-Bala and Athibala,as aresult of which they would feel neither hunger or thirst.Rama,Lakshmana and viswamitra saw Ganges river.There they saw an ashram and rama asked about it.Viswamitra told him about it.It was the abode of Sthanudu.It was called as Kamashramam.Once upon a time Manmatha had body.Once Siva and Parvathi were here in the ashram.then Manmatha made him angry.So. heopened his third eye and manmatha lost his body in the fire that ensued.Sothis place was also called as angadesam.

Viswamitra and Menaka

Viswamitra saw Menaka while she was doing Pushkara snanams in theerthas.He was attracted by her beauty and lived with her for ten years.Then he realised his folly and sent her away.Then he went northern side and did thapa there for many years.Then Brahma gave him the award ofMaharshi.Then Viswamitra did thapa standing on one leg and eating nothjin but air.I nsummer he did thapa amidst fire and in winter submersed in water.Then Indra sent Rambha to divert him.But he realised her bad intent  and cursed her to become a stone.So this proved that he did not conquer anger.So he went eastern side and did thapa.Then brahma awarded him with Brahmarshi.He wanted Vasishta to acknowledge his Brahmanathwa.And Vasishta obliged his wish.

story of Sunassephudu

.hen Viswamithra lost all his powers in creating thrisanku swargam. so he wentnotrh and did thapa for many years.During that time ,King of Ayodhya,Ambarishaalso did yaga.Indra stole the yagna pasuvu.Instead of yagna pasuvu atleast narapasuvu should be used to end the yaga.Then Ambarisha went in search of narapasuvu.he saw Ruchika maharshi along withwife and sons near BHrugathunga mountains.When he told them of his requirement, father denied to give his eldest son and mother the youngest son. So middle son, Sunassephudu thought that his parents were willing to barter him and so went along with Ambarisha.Viswamitra was maternal uncle of Sunassephudu.So he told of his plight to him.Then Viswamitra advised him as what to do. So when the tied him to the pole, he sangsongs praising indra and Upendra. As aresult they wre pleasedAmbarishas yaga was successful.and Sunassephudu was also blessed with long life.

Again viswamitrA  did thapa for thousand years.Then Brahma made him rishi fram Rajarshi.

story of thrisanku

So Viswamitra went southwards with his wife and did thapa there.Brahma awarded him  with Rajarshi.Viswamitra was dissatisfied.THrisanku wasking of Ikshwaku vamsa.Hedesired to go to heaven with his body.He requested Vasishta to do yaga to fulfil his desire.But vasishta declined  to do so.Then Thrisanku asked Vasishtas sons.They too refused. Then he said taht he would take some others help. for that they got angry and cursed him to become a chandala.So by morning he became dark, thick skinned,rough haired , with iron ornaments and torn dusty clothes chandala.

He went to viswamitra and expressed his wish who obliged and did yaga . But no devatah came to recieveyagna phal.Then he sent Thrisanku to heaven with his body.Indra did not allow him as he was cursed by his guru, vasishta.Hemade him go back to earth head downwards.Then Viswamitra created Saptharhsi mandal in space and detained thrisanku there.He stays there like chandala  adn head down wards facing the earth.

Is it the heaven he sought.One should be within ones limit in wishing any thing.

Vishwamitra

One day Dasaratha was discussing about his sons marriages with his ministers.Then Viswamitra came there.Viswamithra was Bramharshi.By birth he was aking.Brahmas son was Kususdu.he was a king.his son was Kusanabhudu.His son was Gadhi.Gadhis son was Viswamitra.In time he became a king.One day he came to Vasishta  ashram.Vasishta had akamadhenu,Sabala.It gave whatevr was asked by Vasishta.As per Vasishtas directions Sabala gave vIswamitra  and his army good food.Then Viswamitra thought that as he was the king he should possess Sabala.So hedemanded Vasishta to give him sabala.But Vasishta declined.Then Viswamithra dragged Sabala along with him.Then as per Vasishtas request it created massive army which smashed Viswamitras army and his sons except one.viswamithra was humiliated and hemade his son the king and he went to Himalayasto do thapa ie meditation for Parameswar.When Siva asked him what his wish was, he asked for astras  simply. He did not ask him to give power to defeat vasishta. he thout that if asked for weapons , with those he could easily defeat him.But he could defeat Vasishta because he had Bramhastram.
